The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Major service

    Hi guys,

I'm due for a service for my MK6 GTI DSG but was wondering if a major service was necessary? My car is sitting on 40,xxx km so it hasn't reached the 60,000km major service mark yet but it's a 7 year old car and hasn't had a major service before. I barely drive my car also only on the weekends but my mechanic recommended a major service.

Also how much are major services for DSG roughly?

Do you guys reckon I should go for the major service or the minor service?

    Thanks

    Hey mate
My series 6 wet clutch is in for a dsg service today at 140k its about $400 the oil is vry expensive its not the mechanics trying to rip you off
If it was me i would get it done the current oil is old and most likly past its used by date at 7 years cheaper than a new dsg at 4k!

DSG should be serviced every 60,000kms or 4 years.

Car should be serviced every 12 months regardless Both of mine are 6 years old, one has done 22,000 one has done 34,000 but they are onto the 6 year service this year anyway. The 60,000k was about $800 for the Polo which included DSG and brake fluid change which should be done every 2 years.

As stated above, service schedule is 12mth / 15,000kms (whichever comes first)...

This is why I am reluctant to purchase second hand, as it seems like a lot of people out there do not know how to get their cars serviced.

At 7 years its also due for a cambelt, tensioner etc and probably a water pump Save up for about $2000 seeing you havent bothered for a few years by the look of it

All but the Rs, GTI Edition 35s, and diesels, are chain-driven.
