Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Now that was not expected

A choice of 3 diesel cars and the petrol wildcard pips them at the post.

    Enjoy your new wheels.

What a shame VW don't offer the TSi in the Transporter van range all they have is diesel right across the whole lot , in the UK they offer a 2.0 TSi . Personally I am not a fan of some of the issues the diesels have been having , belts being dragged into the timing gears with catastrophic engine failure . DPF problems seem to be an issue , for the love of me why cant a car be driven the way an owner wants to rather than being dictated by design that will cause a problem if not driven a certain way . Not all of us are going to drive long distances every day , my wife would drives our 2012 T5 2.0 turbo diesel twice a week to the local shops 4 kms each way . So when I get in the van on the weekend I have to flog the sht out of it to ensure the DPF gets its jollies . Petrol would not have the same problem I am sure , my current work van is a humble non turbo 2.0 petrol from 2005 now nudging 300000 kays and only had timing belt water pump done every 100000 . Didn't have has its first set of plugs and leads changed until around 260000 kays bloody thing runs rings around our previous 2.5 Turbo diesel for reliability .
