  • How do I get a Huntsman out of the car

There was a Huntsman on the inside of my drivers window on the way to work this morning. I tried to get it to go out but when I flicked it instead of it going out the window it crawled down the inside of the door.

I looked for it when I got to work but couldn't find it. It's only a small one, about this big.

In the past these usually hide somewhere under the dash and come out at just the right time to scare the wife and kids so how do I get it to leave before the screaming starts?

    Cheers

It's only a baby, you should see some of the big ones we get here. The biggest I've seen in one of our sheds was about 15 cm across and almost black.

I don't mind spiders so if I can find it I'll take it out and put it somewhere where it won't get hurt. Huntsmans don't bite so they are safe to pick up.

I just need to move it before the kids see it.

Dry ice inside the car for a couple of hours... The carbon dioxide will kill them

They're aracnids not insects so will probably just piss it off

Seriously though, they're not dangerous so can just be scooped out.

Plus you'd be left with insect spray residue everywhere.

Maybe you can lure it out with something? Leave the door open for an extended period? Although that could cause more spiders to appear also.

Worst-case, you can always remove the door trim and give him the flick.

If I knew where it was I'd get it out but the little bugger has crawled away and is hiding somewhere, waiting to scare the crap out of someone.

There's nothing worse than pulling down the sunvisor and there's the spider smiling at you as it drops into your lap or feeling something crawling on your neck while you're trying to stay in front of a CRX through a roundabout.

We've got lots of huntsmans at home so leaving the window open overnight is just an excuse for a spider party inside the car.

All I need is for this 1 spider to move out.

                    Cheers

                      true story,

pulled up at traffic lights, middle lane, right turn had just turned red and car stops beside me, 2 young floosies jiving away to some crap music with windows down, I flip my visor down and WOW large huntsman greets me, one mighty flick and he goes out my window as my light turns green, apparently, from the screams I heard he must have landed in floosies lap..... oh the joys of driving..

I had a monster living in one of my cars for over three months,It was as big as they get - you know how they sort of fatten up once they reach maximum diameter. I saw it the first time on my leg at about 11pm when I pulled up and the lights came on when I opened the door . This sort of went on for weeks, I'd come out and the thing had left a nice web across the seat or roof, dash or whatever and then I'd have to check the car every single time I got in because I knew he was out to get me. Sometimes on the way to or from work I'd pull over because I was just convinced he was creeping up the back of my seat ready to sink his lethal razor sharp fangs deep into my neck.
After taking many years off my life expectancy I finally cornered the beast in the drivers side door hinge and managed to take out some of his legs(and paint) with a bastard file that was nearby but it was still days before I managed to take him out once and for all.
It was him or me and yes he lost on that terrible day but its something that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Now I'm a bit older I tend to just take them outside but if they want to start something again I say bring it .............

                            Huntsmans can be surprisingly friendly.

We have a garden spray that can get rid of others from around the eaves of the house, but in a light dose it seems to just drug the bigger Huntsmans.
Had a similar situation in our focus where it would only appear when mum was in the car.
A quixk spray and wound the Windows up, sure enough it appeared on the dash not looking so crash hot.
Quick flick out of the car and it continued to live on under the verandah.
