Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Shade sails - Melbourne

Hi guys, I am thinking about getting a shade sail to help protect my new (arriving soon) GTI. I am hoping that a shade sail will be a cost effective way of minimizing the harmful effects of the sun, bird droppings and possibly protect from damaging hail.

Can anyone recommend some Melbourne professionals that know what they are doing with a reasonable cost?

    Thanks.

This guys did my massive shade sail in the backyard. It is irregular pentagon shape with 6600x7100x5150x5180x2800 mm sides. There are four 100x100 mm galvanized posts in the ground and one bracket on the roof. It was done in January 2004 at a cost of $1900 .
In July 2013 during a storm stitching on one side gave away. Rang them, they came and picked the sail, changed the wire rope and restitched all five sides and reinstalled the sail back in place. Cost of repair was $500. I am confident it will last another 10+ years.

Ask for Brock Pitman, top bloke and he knows what he's doing. Very happy with whole experience.
