  • Removal of dealer sticker on number plate

    Hi all,

The dealers it seems now not only put their stickers on windows and their brand number plate frame to promote their business but my dealer has also has their branding on the actual number plate.

It appears to be a sticker I can see the edge but dammed if i can remove it, before I start attacking it good does anyone have any suggestions?

    thanks

Yeah if it's just a sticker get at it with a hair dryer or wait for a warm day then clean off tge sticky residue.

They should probably watch putting stickers on the plates though, I know here in SA at least it is against the law to put anything non official on a plate.

Pretty sure in NSW, it's applied as part of the laminating process during manufacture of the plate.

it does appear to have the laminate over the top hence why i cant get an edge to take it off. maybe custom plates are the answer! still - pissed off with it though

Go back to your dealer and demand that they remove it or replace your plates.
Unless it is written in your contract that you are willing to support them in displaying their logos etc (as in advertising) they have no right place it there.
I have seen the local Toyota dealer doing this with their cars. My neighbour had the same problem and he demanded that they replace the plates with the same details, they had to go down to the RTA (or what ever they call themselves this week) and fork out for a new set for him. He even had the dealer come out to his place and replace the new plates for him.

This is normal now (for the last year or so) in NSW for premium number plates to have the dealerships name written at the bottom. This cannot be removed as its part of the number plate. You will need to get new plates via the RMS in order to get rid of the dealer name.

Ever since the RTA out sourced their custom plates business it's a **** show.

You can get Leopard Skin plates now. So ****.
