Has my comp caught something, or is VWW really slow and weird because of ads?
Has my comp caught something, or is VWW really slow and weird because of ads?
So I noticed there are ads on VWW on the sides and attached as links on some threads by keyword, is this a new thing??
Unless there's something going on with my comp??

The forum is very slow and is doing some strange things like:
- after posting a response, it continually refreshes the page over and over again.
- when i first access the forum, it says i am not logged in, but then once i click on a thread it logs me in automatically.
- doesnt refresh threads properly (eg when in the forum menu it will say a thread has 8 replies, but when you click on the thread to view, only 5 replies are shown and you have to refresh the page to see the others).
So its not just me, I noticed it being slow also. Any mods know what's happening???

Try installing ad-blocker software. If you've got Google Chrome you can get ad block plus in the apps/extensions section.
If you're concerned about viruses install Rogue Killer and MalwareBytes Anti Malware and do scans.
Ran a virus scan and turns out my comp caught computer STD's all sorted now, sorry for the annoyance fella's.
thanks for the help

ewww no please don't. Why pay them every year to slow down your PC and make home networking so much more of a hassle when you can get better protection with Microsoft Security Essentials (free) and the Professional version of Malwarebytes ($28 lifetime licence)
When I'm asked to fix people's computers trying to sidestep Norton products is a bigger annoyance than actually fixing the problem. Great that your PC is good though.

I have no trouble with home networking I have my 3 phones, a Sony Duo, a netbook and an old laptop all connected, plus two Canon printers and my Samsung TV all going fine on WIFI.
The perception that Nortons slows down your PC is from years ago when it was bloatware and its far better than AVG or NOD or the other free crap.
It hasn't been like that for about 4 years.
I also use Malware Bytes, Avanquest Fixit Utilities and Spybot.
Haven't had a virus program for 4 years, just security essentials nooooo issues.
Just keep away from the p0rn sites
sounds like you're speaking from experience haha
Anywho, all solved, good thing it wasn't on my good comp!

That you know of and if you haven't got one how would you know.
PC runs the same speed, with no software related crashes from the day I installed the OS. ( I reinstall windows every year or so though...)
Malware just doesn't seem to be as much as a problem on windows 7/8.
