  • how do rate drivers in your city?

Love this recent Canberra Times poll; rating the things that bug you most about other drivers...

    My personal top three 'hates' are;
    1. Drivers stuck in the right lane doing less than the limit and overtaking nothing,
    2. Drivers, especially 4x4s tailgating,
    3. Lack of indicating skills,

(and yes I've done the last two several times in the past myself too)

    Newcastle area, extremely poor
    - no merging skills whatsoever
    - tailgating
    - most drivers necks don't seem to work when changing lanes, especially notice this when out on my bike
    - very arrogant and ignorant fast lane hogs

at least the tail gating problem shows that the speed kills campaign is working.

I think tail-gating, driving slow in the right-hand lane and zig-zagging through traffic all tie into one another.

Where i was in burwood/mount Waverley the main factor was lack of skills and no idea on road rules.
We actually had to tell a lady to turn her highbeams off while parking behind us, she told us that her car doesnt have highbeams, then required us to tell her how to turn them off once we had convinced her she did have them.

I get irrationally angry on the inside at ****s who aren't necessarily weaving through traffic, but get in the left lanes that everyone knows end to get in front of traffic. Always have to sit at a certain set of lights on my way home for an extra few minutes because of it.

Happens on my way home from work as well. They go from the far left lane that merges, instantly to the right hand lane ><...

I live in a particular Southern Suberb of Brisbane where I suspect, well actually it is proven that many punters behind the wheel are not licenced. Well not by Queensland Transport anyway. International licenced 'drivers' (a misnomer) tool around terrorising all and sundry. Try the simple, 'guess which change of direction I am taking'. They indicate left/right but go the opposite across three lanes. Mobile phone use while they drive makes them 50 times worse, weaving like a druken sailor and then slowing to a crawl. Even when not on the phone they are dangerous, they will still insist on tailgating. Believe me I have seen some terrible stuff but they keep topping it without blinking an eye.

                    Brisbane

Not too bad generally, but lots of right lane hogs on highways.

And everyone in Brisbane knows to keep your wits about you when driving in or around Sunnybank.

Agree on number 1 Canberrans are really bad for this, and yes I'm guilty of subsequently tailgating as well.

I must say I have found drivers in North brisbane better than south brisbane after making the move up here. Still people around though who should not be on the roads.

For me it's the lack of distance. Dropping back a bit and showing a little patience and courtesy would go a long way. Nice fat gaps on the motorway and keep up to speed.

The problem that I have found is when I keep an appropriate gap, ffffwits will change lanes into that gap.

                            So many derps..

                              1. Speeding up on overtaking lanes, then slowing down way below the speed limit when you overtake
                              2. Pulling out in front of you from intersections onto 100km/h roads
