The best thing is to not let things wind you up. So you have to move, or let some idiot in who zips down a lane that ends to queue jump. You get your "revenge" when you get to the next set of lights and find you are ahead of them once again.
Just because someone wants to zip around does not make them a good driver. Also, the "keep left unless overtaking" rule only applies to roads where the speed limit is in EXCESS of 80 km/h or if there are signs there. In urban settings where there are multi-lane roads, this does not apply for a couple of reasons. First is that the speed limit is 80 km/h or less, and secondly, a "keep left unless overtaking" would have to be posted after each intersection on the road.
The other evening, there was a learner driver going up the hill from Delhi Road to Fullers Road in Lane Cove. Unfortunately this was during the evening peak. Just ahead of him was someone on a bicycle. For those who don't know, this is reasonably steep and no additional room. The learner was very nervous and while there was JUST enough room to overtake the guy on the bike, the learner was not confident to do this and so stayed behind. A lot of drivers behind me got a bit hot under the collar for no real reason.
Everyone was a learner some time. Ok, so doing this during the evening peak was probably ill considered, but things like this do happen and even learners need to learn how to handle heavy traffic. There is no reason to get worked up because you have to drive according to whatever circumstances you find. You just have to hope that one day, you don't do exactly what you complain about.
The only one you can do anything about is YOU. Don't get too worked up about things you cannot do anything about.
