If that would be the case this thread lost it's credibility, because the one can't take seriously stories got out from people written in the internet forums under the conditions we see (my friend's friend DSG did this, I heard from people that the DSG is no good). If the VW comes out and say there were less than 1% of the DSG made that could have a real problem than you would trust them wouldn't you? If no, then perhaps you should sell the car, you can't drive and be happy with the car, if you don't trust the manufacturer.
Everybody who thinks rationally knows that the fix is not an immediate recall whenever you get e few people jumping in the forums and calling to fairfax or posting on facebook.
Again, I wish that everyone with the real fault in his/her car gets the problem resolved and can start enjoying the car again. It doesn't have to be just the DSG fault; any fault should be repaired ASAP. For that to happen we shouldn't need the media or facebook or use the accidents as a good starting point to go on witch hunt. Because this tactics could seriously backfire one day, and the hunters could find themself in very serious troubles.
Heck, with the 3 DSG cars in the family why wouldn't I want the extra warranty on the DSG (we keep our cars for a very long time) that could come from all this noise? The last think I need is that, my properly working gerabox was opened, the suits to all fix applied.
The fix could be like the last one in the Jeep we had; the torque converter replaced and the ECU and TCM module reprogrammed to reduce the power/torque. I sold the car after that and moved on. You never know what can happen and the legaly you can jump as high as you want, because the engine power is rated and stated at the flywheel.
