Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Re: DSG woes in The Age
There will not be a violent stop peoples, but if the woman always drove manuals, it is a natural reaction to put the foot on the clutch just before stopping any way, to prevent a stall.
One thing I noticed though with my Golf if I stall it...you have to turn the key fully off to restart, which would likely lock the steering, would not be fun trying that on the move. In my previous Subaru, could simply crank and go without turning off or going to accessories, or, if on the move, clutch start it, which I suspect the Golf electronics wouldn't allow..

You can clutch start the current model diesel and petrol motors. roll started a manual petrol golf and diesel tiguan once each to see. worked a treat. that being said. if the battery is proper flat. it won't work. the modules need to be powered properly and below a certain voltage they just bitch endlessly.

My family had only ever owned manuals and me also,I have driven 27 years..you are speaking to me like I am clueless or something, I am coming from a lot of experience of different old& new cars.
