Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I hope the scumbag who reported this car gets hit hard by karma. Just making an innocent guy's life difficult for absolutely no good reason, and forcing him to take his build thread down, which for a lot of guys like me is a source of motivation and is one of the things that got me into these cars. Seriously, how can you look yourself in the mirror?
Also, Candyman, would you give the guy a break? Why would he lie about how many officers there are? Jeez...'95 Golf VR6 Colour Concept

Such bull**** man. Putting up with this crap is ridiculous, and there arn't many other words to appropriately describe it.
Bottom line is though, I hope it all works out at least a little to your favour mate. Seems it's gone downhill so it's got to come up sometime.
Karma will come to those who do things like this. Hopefully your Uncle can sort you out a decent plan of attack for this.1976 VW Golf "Swallowtail" - Rallye Red (long term resto)

I've deleted my build thread and won't be making a new one, I'll keep the interesting things to facebook where I can control who's watching and will take plates off at meets before people take photos

The car laws you guys have over there are seriously messed up and ridiculous...

Re: Be careful what photos you post online
yeah I know police can access facebook, but I doubt they watch everything everyone posts, so can't see why theyd go through mine without giving them
a reason, and even on there I'll blur nameplates.
our laws here certainly are ridiculous, one day I'd love to move somewhere that car enthusiasts aren't treated like criminals and I can work on my car in peace.

IT experts looking for things on the net dont have to look at individual pages.
They have search engines that will throw up selected words or phrases on ANY SITE so if you put "spacers" for example on your
facebook page and they are looking for that it will show all the pages with that word on it.
The word may relate to something totally different but will still show up.
Tell them nothing take them nowhere is a good philosophy as far as the internet is concerned especially if you are doing something illegal.
Do as you want but dont tell everyone about it.
The law isnt always sensible or logical but it is the law and should be adhered to.2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B

Four officers to this sort of thing is nuts, in fact the whole thing is nuts. I'd rather four officers were out on the road, not this sort of thing.
I'm not nailing the guy but I have to say those that are suggesting baseball bats and other rubbish need to sort their **** out.
That sort of attitude just makes things worse and focuses even more attention on all of us, including this forum.
I don't need four officers out here checking my car over !Last edited by Candyman; 22-12-2012, 09:42 AM.8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW

Exactly the point I was trying to make in this thread. If you guys are running illegal mods (which lets face it, the majority of us are) then make sure you don't post them up, or atleast hide your plates and such so there isn't anyway they can be linked to your car.
Let's not start accusing people, if someone wants to come forward and own up to reporting me then please do, I would love to hear your side of the story and know why you have potentially taken my car off the road for good and costed me every spare cent I will probably make for the next few months, when I don't seem to have done anything to anyone to piss anyone off, and have never put anyone in danger when driving my car. If you want to pm me I'll even keep your identity secret so you don't have the entire forum hating on you.sigpic

So it is more than likely you were flagged a while ago and they just had other things to do before giving you a personalised visit.
Sadly for you I think your forecast of your immediate future with this vehicle is accurate. Many vehicles never make it back onto the road even after being "restored" to their original, unmodified condition.Last edited by Tom87; 22-12-2012, 11:05 AM.

Thanks guys. Yeah you could be very right Tom, that wouldn't surprise me. Wolfgang could be right too, some disapproving **** could have seen the car parked at work and saw the VWW sticker, got on the site, found it and reported it. The police said that it had just been reported and as the car had already been flagged as a possible hoon vehicle (thanks to my old grumpy neighbour in Toowoomba, who has had it out for me ever since I owned my old VR6, which was a bit noisy, reporting me a while ago for some other bull**** I definintely didn't even do) they came to take a look. 2 hits on the hoonline must equal a visit.
I'm going to try and get the car back on the road, but we'll see, I've already started looking at potential replacement cars. Might go away from VW's from a bit and get a quick little e30. If I'm going to keep getting fined for stuff regardless of how slow my car is and how slow I drive it, I may as well get something fun since I get cop attention either way.sigpic
