So I just had a lovely visit from 4 police officers who wrote me out a lovely list of defects needing to be signed off by the transport department, and a court appearance. They came to look at the car because some low life who obviously gets off on causing trouble for others reported the car to the hoon line and sent through photos of my car that I had posted ON THIS FORUM. I'm not just guessing this, the police actually told me.

Guys make sure you blur your number plates or just dont post up illegal modifications at all, if they've reported me, who knows how many other people they may have...

And to the retard who sent through the details of my car which doesn't affect you in any way, I hope something incredibly inconvenient happens to you too which leaves you are out of pocket money you dont have, and you also lose the only car you have access to which you need for work.

I have photos of them mate, not that I need to prove anything on here, I'm not posting this to start arguing about if it happened or not, just to warn other people who are driving around in cars much more crazy than mine.

2 weren't from traffic branch and they came out to deal with it all, and they got 2 from traffic to actually go over the car.

Police have been tagging forums for many years

We have a couple on a forum I admin for

However, if you are doing illegal **** what do you expect, seriously

You are posting on a public forum

Hope it is not too costly or painful

        All the best

Edit - did you ask before you took photos ?

Yeah I know police watch forums but I never knew they could do anything unless they caught me driving it, apparently it wasn't even a policeman who found it online, but someone actually reported it. Either way, whoever it is, they're watching this forum so I don't want others getting stung too. Not sure what it will cost yet, no fines or anything on the spot, I have to appear in court where they will decide. The car is off the road though which is a massive pain since I need it to get to work.

What do you mean by ask before I took photos? I took the photos of my own car..

Oh right. I thought you meant of the car, no I didn't get their permission, my roommate walked past and took a few on his phone. It's perfectly legal to take photos of them though isn't it?

There's no legality involved in taking photos of officers unless their names are included or some BS like that.

Sucks this happened though. Just when you think you're safe to show off your car some ass ruins it for you.

Actually there are laws in place that vary by state

It isn't perfectly legal. In QLD its the Police powers and responsibilities act whereby you cannot refuse a direction given by a police officer, if that is to stop taking photos/videos then you stop taking photos/videos. NSW has Sect 60c of the NSW crimes act makes it illegal to gather information about a police officer if it is to be used to harass or intimidate the police officer. You have to prove (in court) that the footage/photo was taken for documentary purposes etc.

The problem has become the interpretation of such rules because now there is an automatic assumption that it is illegal, or for nefarious purposes, with no requirement for reason to suspect that is the case.

Seriously, you open yourself up to more scrutiny by doing things like this

Fair enough. Well again, that's really not what this thread is about. I won't post the photos of the police so you'll just have to take my word that it all actually happened, not sure why anyone would think I would lie about this, nor do I care if people think I'm making it all up... I'm just trying to warn people/vent some frustration about the scum who reported the car.

Not calling it mate, just interested

Still, was the car illegal or not ?

                      All the best with it

Yeah some of the modifications on the car were illegal, all to do with the air bag suspension. It had all been done safely and in pretty much any other country of the world would be legal (all parts are approved by the bodies that approve aftermarket parts for safety, such as DOT and TUV) but over here you basically can't have them, even if you spend thousands on engineering and such. I normally blur out my number plates for this very reason but missed a couple in my last update and so whoever it is that has something against the car obviously jumped on the opportunity.

I'm not sure how they can fine you for it though.
Was the car in operation or in a public area when they gave you the fine.

Who's to say it wasn't trailered to a meet?

It was parked on my private property when they looked over it, which is why I think they didn't actually fine me but gave me a notice to appear in court as things must be a bit complicated for them. My uncle is a lawyer so I'm going to get some legal advice and see where I stand

Can't be parked on the street, sadly. They have likely seen it being driven (and logged)

You may have an out as forum posts are usually viewed as personal ownership, even on a public forum

However, I doubt it is worth the time and effort.
