  • Kudos to the local Dealer Service Department

The Multivan had it's 60,000km service today by the local VW dealer (Paul Wakeling Campbelltown) and I have to say that the customer service that I experienced today was just superb.

I rang the day before to organise some additional washer fluids be ordered and chucked into the car so I have some spares at home to top up t home between visits. Simple enough request and of course they were all ready when I got there.

My tyres were all down to the indicators and in need of replacement, I had already organised for them to be ordered in at another local tyre place (which I know is NOT the usual place that the dealer uses) and am booked in for them to be fitted tomorrow... but thought I might as well ask if it was possible for them to drop the Van in to have them fitted (since it's down the road from their usual one and all). The Dealers response: No problems at all. (I have organised payment for these separately so nothing to worry about there).

I then took their curtesy bus to the train station where I left for work.

About lunch time I get an SMS followed by a phone call telling me the car is all done and ready for pick up. We had already discussed that I was likely to be quite late and they were going to organise an after hours pickup (a service I didn't even know they had)...

I had mentioned to the girl when checking it in that I would see if I could get someone else to pick it up for me and while talking I mentioned my Wife was at home at which point I was immediately offered to have the curtesy bus pick her up. I explained that with a new 7 month old we need a rear facing child seat so that isn't an option... BAM, she says let me call you back and then organises for the Van to be dropped to my house with another car following behind to take the driver back to the dealership after so my wife didn't even have to drive them back!

Credit where credit is due, they really rose above any expectations I might have had today. Kudos.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Awesome service though! We need more dealers like that.

      Good to hear.

Shame one of their sister dealerships isn't as courteous.

Recently I took part in a customer service program authorised by VW to keep tabs on their service centres. Clearly VW wants to see first hand what the dealerships are doing, and I think that's fantastic. As long as they act on it, service should improve. I remember filling out a survey for Ford years ago and outlining all the issues I had with one of their dealerships (the service dep't and I officially have 'history'), and do you think I ever got a reply from them? HA! Fat chance!

You won't hear anything from VGA, either. Although, the dealer will get a kick in the pants if the situation requires.

          Surveys are commonplace these days.

I agree Aaron, I think Wakelings have really got their act together of late. When we picked up our new one the salesman would not let me drive it home with double sided tape holding the rego plates as I wanted to fit plate holders. Peter gave us a trade plate and followed us back to our house to collect it.

I've been giving some diesel injection advice to the workshop and the lads in there all seem really good too.

Its good to give credit where it is due.

I must say, this crossed my mind too.

Either way, that sure was fantastic service, and the dealer should be commended for it.
