Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Are these the types of blokes VGA employ

I think this is a genuine report of what was noticed at the Volkswagen Australia Holding yard so if it gets taken down fair enough!! But i think its important to let everyone know what was seen and how there cars are treated and worked on.
I have a close friend who transports vehicles to the premises and while at Volkswagen Australia he noticed a UP that was broken down, the best part of it was how the two clowns one a fat short bald guy and the other the workshop manager were seen banging the starter motor with the wheel wrench while the other tried to start it. The car still ended up not starting and was seen being pushed into the workshop. If these are the methods Volkswagen Australia try to fix cars you could wonder what else go's on. Shame on you VGA for letting clowns try to fix your cars I'll never take my car to a VW dealership ever again after hearing this, I'll trust my local mechanic instead.

    Cool story.

Although, I don't feel the actions of two individuals employed by a compnay that also employs 100 or so other individuals will trickle down into the dealer network where suitably-qualified technicians work.

Chill out, and come back to the real world wwhen you're ready.

Banging is a legitimate way of getting something to work/fix something sometimes.

I posted this in this section as i would like this subject discussed and to hear peoples opinions.
But question is are these two blokes qualified to work on cars if these types of methods are used?
You would have to guess that they are trained by VGA at VGA HQ and some of the tech's around the network must speak to these guy's wouldn't you agree? And would a manager with any sense let this occur?

So what if they're not qualified? It's VGA's problem. The press cars are well looked-after by the workshop there. Even if the car does find it's way into the dealer network, the issue will have been rectified before then.

They may have just been a pair of pen pushers who were too proud to go seek out someone from Training, or Technicial support.

At the end of the day, while you may be entitled to an opinion, it is in fact tainted as it is second-hand information.

This is another hearsay and to be honest, I don't like the stories like these: "I have a mate who works at and who saw this" it's usually discussed over the beer.

Wow it must be you umaii naa??
They way your defending what was done is quite interesting. So what your saying is you can be a pen pusher and fix cars legally? So VGA hire techs who can't fix cars and get technical support to fix up what they can't?? Mate I have quite a few good friends who are techs who train at vga who have mentioned how inexperienced the guys in the workshop are there's been an Amarok there for over 5 months on a hoist with the engine out maybe they tried to fix that with a hammer?? Gti007 mate you shouldn't be concerned taking your car to a vw dealership I know top guys who work at them and I would back them 100% with the quality they do.

                This.

Why not get your close friend to place a call to VW and pass on this factual and important observation

Not uncommon in the recent past for a starter motor to jam. a couple of bangs with a 12in Crescent usually loosened it up.

Dont recommend it on a new car but I used to drive a bus that I never turned off after 1st start in the morning cos starter wouldnt go when it all warmed up.

Forget and turn it off and out came the spanner again usually worked till boss got sick of me wasting fuel and replaced the starter. LOL

No, I don't work for VGA, but I have spent a lot of time there.

If the original poster can speculate, surely I can speculate his speculation.

It's funny how there's always a fat, short, bald guy in these stories...

Get your mate to call VW Australia and discuss the issue with them, instead of employing you to write frustrated posts over a second hand story on a public forum.

Might be time to turn the computer off, eh?

I would like to add that VGA do also get highly problematic cars and components that other VW dealerships have not been able to fix, they get these problems to find ways of fixing the issues and pass that information on to the dealer network as a tpi. Yes a wheel brace might not be the best tool but maybe it's all they had and maybe they were actually informed that it has a starter motor fault so if it plays up give it a tap as part of a diagnosis technique to get it back to workshop. I nor you know the full story, so to blame the whole VGA as being unprofessional over something your " mate" saw is immature and rude. Pull your head in dude.

I agree. Maybe people have too much time to mind others business. In any life, I could see the tradsman to not always using the best suited tool for the job and even despite of that they managed to get it done.

I'm sure that the OP wouldn't mind what tool would the mechanic used to fix his car to get him going again, if he was stuck in the middle of nowhere for hours. So, why would you deprive someone else the same (the mechanic helping himself to get the job/task done)?
