This site did better in Google results when researching the Mk6 Golf so this is where I joined. No real need to post on multiple forums, and there's more than a few times I've found interesting tricks or upgrades for my car from reading threads in the Polo/Tiguan, etc sections.

Using the search function before posting is general forum etiquette anyway. Everyone's time is valuable (unless it's a quiet day at the office)

Which is better - well that really comes down to personal preference. I used to cross-post on golf.net but no one really cared that I was pouring money into a 1970's Golf so I decided it wasn't worth the effort just to help increase their traffic.

On the whole I am a bit tired of forums and prefer to hang out in person these days.

Golf net, as many others have said is newer models. The only threads I've ever seen there are 'Got a tune. It's sick"

Agree, went to their Dyno day at 9:30am after finishing work at 3am and added my name to the list to get my car on. Waited and waited and was then told "we are not going in order of the list". They were putting on all the Golf R's even stock ones, my car was the most modded there, no one had a bigger turbo, yet they would rather see stock cars and cars with flashes on the dyno. Anyway by the time i got my car on, it was 4:30-5pm, only a few guys there, everyone had gone and no one was intertested to see what my car would do, i was really pissed by then. Remind me never to go to one of their Meets again. End of rant

I have no idea why people would bag such a good forum like VWW. I especially like the attitude of 99% of the people on here, cool, calm and relaxed.

I especially appreciate the attitude of people when I was bagging VW myself when I had crazy issues with my old Polo 6R TDI DSG. I still feel welcome on this forum even though I drive a french car that has nothing to do with VAG.

The DS3 forum is great too, however it's based in the UK so sometime the answers to my questions can be irrelevant. So it's great to be able to still ask the odd non-VAG question on this forum without being criticised.

From what i have seen golf.net has it's uses for the most current golf models.
Having said that it can be abit elitest at time (why bother with mk3 golf's becasue the mk6 is superior in every way etc)

VWW is more open and with the expansion into skoda and audi members i enjoy it more as it has a whole lot of information on different vehicles.

Vwwatercooled has more info and more technically minded people from what I have seen. Vwgolf seems more... Omg look at that offset bro and sick vinyls.

Also there is no diesel section.

That said I post on both forums, no vendetta.

                      Different forums. Different approach.

I notice that although the post on that forum started a pointless pissing contest, the majority of people on vwgolf recognise the importance of this forum.

The same can't be said on here.

I think that this has about covered it off - if every division in the VW scene was analysed you could spend forever discussing it.

There will always be choices and people will decide what suits them best. In terms of what is better, well, there is really no way of measuring that apart from your own personal viewpoint.

If you want to discuss it further, then head over to vwgolf and post in the thread of 'wonderment'...
