Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I just make it a habit to lock the doors as soon as the person has left the vehicle.
I know there is an auto lock function, but you have to go over a certain speed for it to activate. In some circumstances in peak hour melbourne traffic this speed may not be reached.

I can reach 15km/h getting out of my driveway.
I am sure it wouldn't be an issue using the auto lock.

If you are adament about it you can just press the lock button on the drivers door and it should work

that's what i do every time i get in the car.

there are lots of people in melbourne inner city who dont have any dignity left, and have no qualms about asking you for money...

if i had a dollar for every time i was asked for money, by someone who was dressed better than me....

i'd probably have like 23 dollars.

If you see someone like that why not just hit the lock button? No more difficult than changing ac settings or the volume of the radio. Wouldnt locking the doors evey time you get in be much less hassle than carrying a machete or whatever?

I like the autolock. I never used to as, growing up, I was always told not to lock the door as it makes it harder to be rescued in a crash. It took a lot of convincing to make my mum believe that the doors auto-unlock in a crash now.

I could have done with auto-locking a number of years ago in another car when someone tried to pull me out of the car.

I carry one of those aerosols too.. problem is, you have to get into your bag to get it first... and since I now stow my bag in the back footwell of the car (had witnessed an incident in Melbourne of someone having their bag snatched from the passenger side) that would be almost impossible.
So now I lock the car if I see some dodgy persons coming towards my car (if the car hasn't auto locked already)

the KEL TEC .40 Cal pistol... Light, concealable, and packs a very nice punch at short range, and using a hollow point round, not likely to pass though the target and cause damage to your trim. Very nice and easy to hold too, and easy to quickly aim and fire.

                  Lol nice one
You probably wouldn't have to even shoot the ak but the amount you would pay for it on the street you could by a new car.
