  • VW Newbie?

Got a message from Mrs Hawk this morning I had to share for giggles:

Funniest thing... I was following a new golf through Liverpool & he kept putting his indicator on, thought it was weird then realized each time he then put his wipers on! Must be new to VWs!!

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

A lot of people think Euro indicators being on the left is "cool" and "premium" but it's just VW (and most Euro car companies) being lazy. Germans, like the Americans, drive on the right side of the road, and their indicators are on the left. The reason Japanese cars have got theirs on the right is because their cars were built for left hand traffic (as it is in Japan). So Japanese cars in Australia are more natural as opposed to Euros. I especially dislike how the handbrake is on the left side of the on my Jetta, and the cup holders on the right. Here's an example: http://www.themotorreport.com.au/con...-m:610x450.jpg

First time I ever drove my MK2, I naturally went for the indicators on the left side.
This was after driving a Jap car for a year too?

thats the one thing i am NOT looking forward to, being a vw newbie! i do 70% of my driving in a mitsubishi, and 30% in the mrs' peugeot. and i'm constantly flicking the wipers on both cars! it probably doesn't make a difference with auto driving, but i feel like an idiot when i down-gear to speed up and change lanes only to have the wipers go off.
