Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just a quick question for anyone that has been to summernatz as this is my first time going down. I'm driving down with a friend of mine and wondering if i park my car in the designated parking areas would i be able to sleep in my car if i had consumed alcohol, or are drivers not permitted to sleep in their cars just wanting to clear up some murky water so i know wether i can have a drink or not, cheers Eddie.

    As an entrant or visitor?

In a public carpark if you are legally parked you can sleep in your car in these circumstances but the key must not be in the ignition and you are better off not be being in the driver's seat.

BTW, I hear the police have been running a massive defect station at the truck stop between Campbelltown and Picton. They are even defecting cars on trailers.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

I drove home to Canberra from Sydney tonight, and saw a total of one cop car... An unmarked maroon Toyota Landcruiser... Then got to my place in ****son and saw a disproportionate amount of poorly body kitted Commodores running on chrome wheels...

              doing skids?

man how car they defect on trailers? i know of a lot of the cars towing should be defected for not having the front wheels on the ground or the rear of the car touching the deck because of excessive off centred weight of the load. but car being on a trailer is just insane.

Saw a few pics on facebook of the boys that got a bit close to the burnouts...

I think whoever started the rumour about cars being defected on trailers has been drinking too much brake fluid... If that was the case, every V8 supercar would be defected coming into Bathurst, and every project car on it's way to a spray painter would be defected too... I'm sorry, I'm just not buying it...

I'm with Blitzen, don't believe for a second that cars on trailers are being defected.

When I drove down yesterday morning I must have seen six or seven Highway patrol cars or osther parked up doing Radar duties. Was quite surprised to see quite so many.

As for the trip... I took the camera and only manage to take about 10 photos...

Although I think I did find every VW in the place:

                    Splitty:

                    Electric Beetle:

                    And a Manx:

Lots of burnouts, had to snap a photo of this one, smokin grass (yep, that's astro turf):

Well, if the car is registered, then it must comply with regulations. Now if you took the plates and registration label off, then they could not do anything, otherwise it is "fair game". I am sure you would not want them to overlook a potentially dangerous registered vehicle just because it is on a trailer?

I dropped some people off at Summernats this morning. Saw three undercover patrol cars on the way. Got breath tested on the way in to the main entrance and breath tested on the way out.
