Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Some states include the CTP [compulsory third party personal insurance]as part of your rego .but here in NSW we are at the mercy of the big insurance company's,
The other day ireceivedd my CTP for myNissannUtee $953 yet last year it was $492, so i rang NRMA and was quoted $770 then i went on line and again was quotes $570, adifferencee of nearly $400 between 3 insurance providers ,
In QLD where my daughter lives her CTP was $331 for her car but her rego was more both states use Suncorp/GIO to supply the cover , It seems like NSW motorists are being slugged ?

Probably. It was a kick in the teeth too when they moved the "over 25" rate to an "over 30" rate making it more expensive for longer. Also most of the questions in the calculator are worthless now (at least in the tests I have done).

Fill in the worst options you can vs the best (for the same 25 year old driver) and check the differences...

In normal instances you could choose to vote with your wallet but if you want rego you don't have a choice

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
