was a few group buys a while back, might have been the mk4 crew for suspension bushes etc if i remember correctly...
can really help save on shipping and ECS might throw in a discount if a large number of the same parts are ordered

wow. both positive AND negative experiences, both seemingly at their respectively rather extreme ends of the spectrum.

now, i didnt do business studies at school, but might it not be an interesting time for a particular FORUM SPONSOR to come along and address some of the negative feedback, as well as trying to provide peace of mind to a potential customer? (i DO know im living in utopialand)

I think what happens is you are all modern VW's and my parts are for MK1 - so probably less common to them and knowledge about them which could assist in their ability to screw up my orders.

Its probably more a case of not many people ordering mk1 parts these days as the amount of cars is considerably less than say a mk5 gti.

As probably the biggest purchaser of ECS goods in Australia I too have mixed experiences. Some parts can be ordered and may not be in stock for months at a time, not really ECS's fault but still frustrating to wait for such a long time, especially if other parts you order are in stock and required urgently. But the biggest issue I see is that too many people order from the US which does not allow locals to increase the stock so that they can gain a better margin. Yes buying direct will be cheaper but there is the whole liability risk with the goods you purchase that businesses have to cover but individuals dont. We have been discussing with suppliers about bringing in a container which would reduce shipping costs considerably but we still arent quite in that position yet, hopefully by 2012 we will be.

Ordered suspension parts from them in the past (Mk4 Golf) - shipping is pricey as others have mentioned - even on small light-weight items - in fact, I know I checked what they paid and what was on the invoice was three times more than the amount. Parts came and one of them had clearly been used(!) Sorted out a replacement but obviously had to wait for it to arrive. Mixed feelings about ECS and tend to order more from the UK now - even with the dollar where it is, it tends to even out when you factor in their shipping charges.

So is ECS still a sponsor... And if so, why?? I'm here in the USA now and have been looking to order parts off them, and even here the postage is expensive. If they have offered a forum discount, and not came up with it, then the Mods should look into their continued sponsorship...

I have signed up with ECS, but never bought anything. Their range is good, prices are OK, but freight kills the deal. I've found TMTuning to be same or cheaper and their freight charges blow ECS out of the water.

anyone living in melbourne should order parts through audvolks, they can give you a good discount on shipping as they do large orders from ecs

I decided not to order anything from them because they were gonna charge $50+ to ship a couple of bulbs. They do have an extensive range of products but their constant avoidance on the shipping issue just didn't sit well with me.

Instead, I bought truck load of led bulbs on ebay to try with some spare change. I'm sure I'll find something that will work.

It's a pity that they don't address this problem up front. I would have bought from them in a heart beat.

Customer service seems to be pretty good, i ordered a badgeless grill from them, it arrived in perfect condition and the price was the cheapest i could find for that item. Unfortunately i didn't fit 100% as stated, i contacted them to let them know to see what could be done, they took responsibility for the fact that i was told it would fit and they refunded my full purchase and didn't have to return the item.
