OT: VWWATERCOOLED MUSO's....WHO'S OUT THERE AND WHAT DO YOU PLAY???
I've played drums off and on since 1997. As much as I love drums I havent been able to play very much due to health problems, also since 1997. I hope the two arent related! I've got a premier artist series kit with some sabian cymbals. The colour of the kit? Green
To call myself a 'musician' is a bit of a stretch, but I've played guitar for something like 22 years. I'm almost good at it too. I'm pretty much self taught (and it shows). I own about 12 guitars, 40-something pedal, third valve amp ('78 Silverface Champ) should find its way to me this week. Main axes are a CIJ Strat, Epiphone Gold Top (upgraded to Fralin P90s), Edwards MIJ Les Paul (quality copy) and a Taylor 110 (bottom of the line but still my most expensive guitar).
Before I picked up the guitar I played violin for about 4 years (I sucked terribly) and learnt to read music etc - this was from about age eight.
I have a somewhat musical family so a lot of my knowledge and skills (skills outweighed by knowledge) came naturally.
What with work and study, I've not been able to put too much time into playing in recent years (that and I'm lazy) but I hope to change that soon.
Sounds like there is some serious talent out there.
I have stuffed around with various instruments, have played a little bit of drums, piano, violin and am a ahck at all. Have learnt guitar (self taught) but am no Slash.
Have an Epiphone special II electric, Tanglewood acoustic guitar, El Cheapo drumset and violin, and a 1904 john broadwood upright piano(sounds awesome, shame I'm rubbish).
06 Jetta TDI, DSG, VW body kit, 18in Khartoum alloys, MFD2 Sat Nav, Lowered springs.
Played piano for 3 years, moved onto acoustic guitar for 3 then electric (total of 9 so far).
Did vocals in our old band "One Screw Loose", Alternated between drums and electric guitar in another band "Naked Cure" for 3 years, also played electric guitar in my old church band for 7 years and since 2008 I have Dj'd at quite a few clubs all over Melb!
EDIT: forgot I was in the Australian youth choir for many years and was asked to join the Vienna boys choir but I wanted to stay in Aus.
Actually making a guitar ATM...will get some picsss
