After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

i heard about these in development a year or two back because as an architect, printing a 3D model to touch and feel would make a client giddy!!!

we have one of these at work.. our rapid prototype machine. Everything comes out a plastic type material, pretty unstable for a while after its made has to remain ~23 deg and low humidity. But if you can think of it, its 3D and will fit in the machine it can be made.Driving the coal. Low and rattly.Comment

you can make an, only slightly less awesome, home version of this sort of thing yourself (called a reprap machine) and use it to make the parts for home versions for other people to build one.
