I was reading about these a while back, it's crazy! Amazing how it recognises the moving parts and it doesn't come out as a solid lump. I want one!

i heard about these in development a year or two back because as an architect, printing a 3D model to touch and feel would make a client giddy!!!

we have one of these at work.. our rapid prototype machine. Everything comes out a plastic type material, pretty unstable for a while after its made has to remain ~23 deg and low humidity. But if you can think of it, its 3D and will fit in the machine it can be made.

you can make an, only slightly less awesome, home version of this sort of thing yourself (called a reprap machine) and use it to make the parts for home versions for other people to build one.

I have a friend who is a sculptor and he used a 3D scanner and rapid prototyping machine to make a life size sculpture of himself.
