Correlation of VW drivers to Mac Users

I think Macs and VW's are much nicer looking and nicer to use than a PC and say a Toyota, BUT, As much as i love my iMac i still have a PC for CAD, i have a Toyota ute for work, and probably always will, along side my VW, which i don't have atm but have had a few... I like the best of all worlds.

I guess you have to treat Mac and VW as a luxury step up from $300-PC and Toyota

Wow, made it to page 2 before this kind of comment. I wish I could understand the hate that people have for Apple products. I think it's cooler to knock them than own them perhaps.

Maybe most of you are too young to remember having to tape from 'RAGE' onto a cassette walkman. I think that's why I appreciate how far iPods and the like have brought us.

Actually, I am well and truly "old enough" to remember that.
This is yet another reason why I dislike the iPod - we can no longer do things with our iPods that we used to be able to do with out Walkmans! How's THAT for technological progression!

For example. My cassette walkman had an "inline" remote control. The walkman itself would go into a pocket or your bag etc, and your headphones would plug into the top of the remote (hence why sony used to sell earphones with a "SP" and "LP" model, for different cable lengths. So unlike iPod users who have to carry their iPods around in their HANDS to operate them and adjust the volume or pause etc when someone talks to them or whatever, we used to have FULL CONTROL of the device clipped to your shirt or sleeve and not need to hold it.

Some models were also able to record, and had a combination line/microphone input. This was also incredible useful for some people, including me to do what you mentioned above.

When I got a CD Walkman, it still had the remote, and it had a DIGITAL OUTPUT via an optical toshlink jack (via a 3.5mm headphone style socket). So you could plug your walkman into a stereo or computer or whatever and list to it in FULL DIGITAL QUALITY, rather than via analogue. Who'd have thought, 20 years later, we can't listen to our iPod - a "digital music player", digitally!

Wow - progression.

So maybe stop for a second, and truly think about things, and realise that it's not necessary "HATE" for a company, but just dislike in the lack of features that we once took for granted which Apple have ignored and effectively removed from the marketplace. I find it's the people who DONT remember (or weren't around) for the earlier days of "personal audio" who like the iPod, simply because they don't realise what they're missing. Those of us who were around back then are fully aware of what we are missing.

Actually, I have nothing against Apple. Macs seems good in my limited experience, ipods are fine and similar to most other MP3 players so don't have an issue with them.

It's just iPhones. I am sick of people telling me how amazing they are and how I just have to get one.

Then having their calls drop out because of the pathetic antena, having to listen to them complain about how xyz isn't working and then dealing with the tedium of them talking about their apps as if I actually cared the slightest bit about their gimmic.

And for some reason it isn't smartphone users. it is just iphone users.

I have a Core i7 3.4GHz, 16GB RAM, Win7 64-bit PC. It doesn't urinate over anything, I'd be most alarmed if I saw fluid issuing forth from the case. I use it primarily for recording music, and having weaned myself on CakeWalk ProAudio years ago, which is exclusively PC, I've stuck with it. I'm now using Sonar 8.5.3 Producer Edition.

I too remember the Sony Walkman casette player, I've had two or three of them in my time, I preferred listening to the radio on it. Can you do that with an iPod? I really don't know, it's not intended as a put down.

I drive a diesel Golf, which puts me in an entirely different category; the man of discerning taste.

I have the same function with the ipods that I have - has been available for a couple of years or so now - built into the earphone cabling. For the record, I've never carried an ipod whilst listening to it and always been able to FF, RW, skip tracks, pause, stop and adjust volume - all with the ipod in my pocket or clipped to a suitable place.

Don't disagree with your other points though - to me, the ipod offers convenience but it absolutely isn't the ducks nuts in all aspects.

Yes many Apple users seem to have joined a cult. I must agree with others here that iPhone users are really annoying. One guy at work learned the the hard way when he walked into the tea room and started telling everyone about how great his new iphone is. Its the only phone that can do video calling. 5 people pulled out 5-10 year old Nokia's and Motorola's and showed the video call feature. The guy shut up pretty quick.

I've always linked Apple owners with Subaru owners.
