Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Rego Costs up again

Just got the rego papers for the Multivan (can't believe it's already been a year!).

$446 this year vs $406 last year for a nice 10% increase.

With power going up ~18%, fuel up, food up, interest rates heading up ... I do wonder how inflation is only a low single digit number.

Don't mind me, just feeling poor and downtrodden after paying all the bills this evening

    Mostly poor though

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I feel lucky to be in the job that I'm in now, but I honestly believe it's becoming harder and harder to justify living in Australia. I cant work out why it is so expensive to live in Australia.

Take a look at the current gov't.. There's one main reason.

I know what you mean. The quicker they are gone ther better. The only thing keeping me in Australia now is my contract to work... Once that is finished, I am gone...

Half your luck! — just paid mine (Golf, done about 3500K in the year (I'm 87 and don't get out as much as I once did)) $612.10.

Geebus! That's crazy. There should be a pay per km deal for people that do very little kms. At the end of the day you are paying for the upkeep on the roads (cough). So the less time you are on the road, the less damage you do to it and therefore the less you should have to pay..

Disappointing that I've heard this for eons and I know exactly what you mean. A much safer and better place than many I've visited or been sent to (defence), yet i agree. "Australia - It's Expensive in every facet of life" little wonder many we should be holding on to both born and brought here are leaving....again. Rego here is over $600 for a 4cyl and the roads
