VW Free On Road Costs Promotion

Hi all

Has anyone heard about the free on road costs promotion that VW is offering here in OZ. Not sure if it is OZ wide or just NSW however my local dealer rang me today and asked if I had heard about it.

No my car is on the ship, however I am thinking of hitting my dealer up with this, could save a bit of cash. I have not signed a contract yet, though have placed order for a car that was already in build....

Anyone heard of this? Any one received this deal? Any comments out there?

I know they had this promotion on back in March for the Tiguan, one of the major factors in why we bought one.

Doesn't seem to be any mention of them doing it again on the VW website for any models.

Just my luck. Picked my car up exactly 1 month ago and paid the standard $4-5k for on road costs......

Well they knew I had been looking for a Golf GTI and were doing a call back from my enquiry with them some time ago. The sales lady asked me if I was aware that there was a free on road cost promotion going on with them at the moment... Maybe she mixed up the Tiguan offer, but she sounded like she knew what she was talking about and she did know I was looking for a Golf GTI. Perhaps I will have to call them tomorrow and find out about it as if it is the case and I have not signed a contract I was hoping there may be a slim chance I could ask for this offer on the car I have placed an order for but have not signed for yet.... If not I may be able to at least use it as a leverage, bargaining tool to get some extras from my dealer, like Iphone cable and genuine GTI matts....!!!

About a year ago the GTI had a similar promo and was only from $39,990 drive away.

VWA does do drive away deals with dealers on a round robin basis in between the Dec to June and July to Dec periods. i.e. one month it might be one dealer and another it might be another. So it could be that the dealer that called you is one of the ones that is currently having that arrangement with VWA.

Here in Sydney, one month it might be the Mascot and Five Dock VW (Barloworld VW) dealers and the next Parramatta and Chatswood (Denlo/Inchcape VW) dealers have drive away deals.

I'm from Melbourne and i know that there are a couple of VW dealers here who are offering 'no on-road costs' deal!
Have been dealing with a fleet company in trying to secure a golf gti but it appears that the dealer's offer is looking much more attractive. any suggestions??

shop around yourself with regards to the fleet company etc... not all of them have your best interest in mind when getting quotes.

It was last June they did free onroads on all GTIs, although that was only for ones delivered in June as new cars (demos didn't count).

Spoke with my dealer today. They are extending the offer to me on my GTI which is on its way over on the Morning Carol. This equates to a further $1600 discount for me on my spec car...

MY11.5 Golf GTI CW DSG Sun, Leather, 18" Detroits, MDI & B/T

It is due to arrive end of May at Port Kembla, Delivery to me around mid June.

Apparently the discount is only valid if you recieve the car by end June - ie. End Financial Year. Should be OK as my car is on track at the moment, arrives Fremantle 21 May, then Melbourne, then Port on I think 27 May.
