I know I will get flamed for this BUT.... my experience has been a WRX is useless unless you know how to drive it properly. So while a car journo can do it, doesn't mean many people in real life can do it. Note that I haven't mentioned you in this, so dont take offense, I agree that you are the Stig. I think there are other cars out there that are more amature friendly for taking off quick.

I think someone said 3rd (in manual)? And the GTI 6th? Good effort... might've topped the lot in DSG spec!

And the Megane might have done even better if the tyres weren't "shagged".

I can only assume you mean 'launch properly' not 'drive properly' when you criticize how people drive WRX's. Driving them (fast) is an easy affair... launching them takes some practice.

Until you both get the hang of launching a manual AWD car AND are happy to sacrifice your clutch in order to preserve you gearbox (ie. you slip the clutch off the line rather than dump it) in the process, then very quick launches are a fair simple endeavor.
Previous Rides: Polo GTI, Mx5 10AE, MY05 WRX WRP10, Renault Sport Clio 172
Current Ride: Evo 8 MR, Fabia MK3

                      Totally agree.

The 2 wrx's I've owned were simple affairs to rip away from the lights after getting familiar with the clutch. I haven't owned a car that was easier to launch very quickly.
MKV Golf 2.0 TDI DSG Sportline. Just nice.

I noticed that the journalists didn't test both the Golf GTI & Polo GTI's 80-120 in 4th, 5th and 6th gear. Do they not know how to flick the DSG into manual mode? :S
