They are essentially automatic cars... so why would you bother?

"The Clio 200 was the only car that matched the driving enjoyment of my 2010 Cayman S. I wanted a daily with similar dynamics & fun factor, VW GTI Golf/R & other makes didn't come close. It's humbling to experience the same enjoyment from a car at a fraction of the cost. This is my first Renault purchase."

What's to add to that, really...

No doubting the that Clio 200 is a great drive, however the fact remains that its weighs 200kgs more than the original Clio (approx 20% more) whilst still pumping about the same HP.

Well, that happened to all good hot hatches, isn't it? The Golf GTI gained more than 200 kg in the last 10 years. So what? However, handling wise the new Clio evolved from the 197, let from alone older models. Never heard of the 172 or the 182 being compared with serious driving machines from Porsche. Great hatches no doubt, is just that the RS 200 feels more mature, like it has grown up. In a good way

In the case of the Clio, just like with so many other proper drivers cars, power comes second to handling and feel. Power is just a number at the end of the day. No so simple dealing with the the other two though...

And thats what great about the MX5. I know its not a hatch but it is everything that you have descibed and it looks good.

I do...the 182 Cup/Trophy was compared with heavy hitting sports cars in the UK( EVO COTY tests)

The point of the euro 182 Cup was both the uprated the suspension (exxy front shocks on the Trophy) and less weight (40kg+)
