The International 250 gearbox record that was posted (in the 1:32s) is where I expected them be but I would have thought that the 125s should be a lot closer than 10 seconds adrift.
The interesting thing I've found out is, that 125cc Gearbox Lap Record was a touch controversial when set…

The guy was apparently running 1:44-45's, which is supposedly the best you really can go with that type of kart, and very quick for what they are.

Then it managed to clock a 1:42.7 - apparently he drafted a 250cc to achieve it, so odds on it being beaten are small.

PI is one of those tracks where the 250cc can use there extra power a lot more, compared to say Winton where the difference can be very little.

It terms of track day costs for your car, it was $165-175 depending on the Sat or Sun. Which is great value I think for the amount of a sessions you get, without an excessive amount of cars on the track. If you're thinking about it, there are always plenty of experienced people there to assist and take you out showing you the track, even driving your car first up to advise lines, braking tips etc

Why is that? Can't they fit a small enough rear sprocket???
Peter Galvin has the National 125GP bike record down to the 1:41:632 and the International 125GP bike record is 1:36:927 (Alvaro Bautista).

Times won't count if you draft a kart in another category but you can draft your competitors. And any powered non-drag racing (as opposed to time trialling) without drafting is basically impossible.
