Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Offer a mate a carton of beer, drive up, have a night out on the town and drive both back the next day.

well so far thats the plan but there are a couple things that make it awkward...
        1) car might not make the distance
        2) mate that has offered to come for the roadtrip doesn't actually have his license yet..

these make it somewhat more difficult..

Sydney to Melb isn't that far, I drove my Mk2 from Perth to Canberra.... but then I guess I'm crazy

              It's a pretty easy drive.
Get the car inspected by a third party if your worried? Can be a little more confident in your decision

This is why you don't make friends with Stu..... Take a tow rope and tow it if you have to, otherwise rent a trailer and borrow a good tow car.

you could always take it/get some work done on it/inspected in syd before you leave, and have a bit more confidence

                      Been there, done that...

For timing reasons I'd recommend flying up and driving back otherwise it takes two days (or swapping drivers while the other sleeps). The drive itself is easy, did Sydney to Melbourne and back last weekend

Reliability... that's a much harder call to make...

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Looks pretty reasonable. Brenton doesn't mess about so it will be as he said it is in the description, but do expect to do some work on her.

Otherwise I will buy it and part it out haha.
