Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mmmmmm... I can tell most of you were not around in 1974. Just because it's not rain does not mean the floods over.

      Exactly.
It takes 24 hours for the water to flow down from Wivenhoe release to Brisbane City.
At high tide tomorrow (around 3pm) the full release from today will meet the high tide and the flows from the Bremer River and the city of Brisbane will see some high water.

Also apparently they are turning off the power to parts of the CBD from 7am tomorrow so no work for me!
Instead i get to do some fun runs in the Tig transporting people to flood work.

SEQ Water grid were hoping that with the inflows dropping off late last night they would be able to drop 20-30ML off the release, taking about 1m off Thursday's peak. Today's, as you have pointed out, is already done and dusted.

If I'm right, only parts of the CBD should be blacked out, particularly those on the river side of Charlotte, Edward and Adelaide Sts, they shouldn't have to black out the whole CBD. Stay safe, and if you've got your stock rims and tyres, put them back on...

Just drove dad in to work and there is no real problems on the south side.
Power is up and working in the city and the water isn't anywhere on the roads.
Even the local creeks aren't covering the road.

It will get worse at 3pm today with the high tide.

Emailing work now to tell them i won't be coming in

SEQ water have to take the blame for the debarcle, as they had the oportunity to reduce the level back in the first week of December when council asked them.
I live in Indooroopilly and will be flooded in a few hours,I will be lucky,as only the lower floor will be flooded, not so for my nice neighbours. We will be closed in tomorrow, and my wife gave me the RRS to get out, she drove off at lightening speed in the R, just to piss me off, I hate giving her my car.
I hope others down here are ok, and dont look at the QLD government models and hope youll be fine, because that blew out half a hour ago.
I will throw any looters in the rushing river, if they come near our houses.

Hope Guy/James (Harding Performance), Mike Webber and Glynn are okay, haven't heard from them yet.
If anything, it will just be property damage rather than them going missing.

Amazing pictures. Like the black saturday bushfires, this is a trully phenomenal and devastating event.

Stay safe everyone in Brisbane and surrounds.
