  • QLD Floods.

It was going to be a thread sooner or later.

    These maps might be useful

I'd like to extend my wishes to those affect by the floods, and let's hope that everyone stays safe. We're bound to lose a few VWs but you can always get more of those.

We've been quite lucky here, I just had to butcher the lawn into channels to stop the shed flooding, but that's about it so far (I hope, there's a creek out the back). There's some nasty photos already on friends facebook accounts, not to mention on the news.

    Keep safe.

If you'd like to add practical information that would be good, still haven't found that Brisbane flood prediction map I've been hearing about.

One tip from me to is charge up mobile phones and tecnology that may come in handy if we lose power.

If we lose power then the mobile's may not work.
Vodaphone is running on emergency reception only.

Wivenhoe was at 176% at 9am this morning, and the inflows are still ongoing.

Yep its pretty insane, especially what happened in Toowoomba yesterday.

On a VW related note, Austral at Newstead just rang me to cancel my service appointment for tomorrow - they're going to get flooded.

        Yeah its crazy.

I hope we dont loose any more people. It not a good start to 2011 at all.

To those who have lost houses, property, loved ones and businesses I hope all is not lost.

My thoughts and sympathies with those effected. Looks truly devastating.

Awesome, Glynn gets the day off!
And your car won't get hydrolocked/flooded.

              Lots of area's being evacuated.
Strathpine residents are being told to get out.
Ipswich Motorway is being shut down.

Can't wait to get outside and see some of this.

Also this is the Warrego Highway heading down the toowoomba range:

I have been watching the Ch9 coverage online. If you have VLC player (or Windows media player) you can get the stream simply by plugging in this URL:

                  mms://news.netshow.ninemsn.com.au/bulletin-syd

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Just crazy amounts of rain out Wivenhoe and Marburg way (250mm+ since 9am), looks like it is breaking up a little right now, hope it will stay away.

What happened in Toowoomba yesterday was some crazy stuff that I have never seen! The whole CBD has been smashed with wrecked cars and debris everywhere. So many business's have had their buildings and stock destroyed. The local VW dealer went close to having water in the display yard.

Everyone has gone into panic mode buying all your essential grocery's and fuel. The time I got to the shop there was not much left to buy. The road to Brisbane is blocked so it could be a while before we have transport trucks with essentials back up here. I hope this rain easy up soon cause it looks like its Brisbane turn. Stay safe everyone.

It's hard to believe the amount of distruction is happening in our own country. We have all see this sort of footage from "other places"... but not in places we live and work.
