Wow, that's some impressive kit, I've never even heard of any of those brands! (apart from Garmin). And carbon bottle holders too! Do you do any races?

I have an Avanti Blade, total cost of $550 including helmet! So far it's done 16,500kms. It's pretty much exactly like this one, except mine's a bit faster because it's totally red:

I use 700-23C in lieu of the 32C ( ) tyres that come with the stock bike. I have used Specialised Armadillo, but beginning to use Continental Gator Hardshell due to supplier issues. Both are very good tyres, but the Conti's are really growing on me. Also use Conti removable valve tubes and put goo in for extra peace of mind.

Everything else is pretty well stock standard, gone through countless chains, replaced the cassette a couple of times, maybe 10 spokes, the nylon pedals disintegrated almost immediately (as if they weren't meant to be pushed on!) so I swapped them for metal ones, the grips are mush, I really need to replace them but cbf.

I do also have one of these, an Oppy Bol D'Or:

Full carbon fibre 12K monocoque frame, fsa post & stem
    Shimano 105 everything
    Mavic Aksium wheels
Hutchinson wheel up front, the Hutchinson down back snapped a thread so I now have a Conti Ultra Race.

I've got 3 Giants. Giant CRX2 for commuting, Giant Thermo1 hard tail and just recently got a Giant Anthem X2 - would barely have done 100kms on it due to the rain here. I'm much more interested in mountain biking than road riding, but head out for road rides with mates when we can't hit the trails.

I went to the shop with the intention of looking at the XTC1 and Anthem X2, but once I got on the Anthem thats as far as I got.

If any brisbane ppl want to hit the trails, feel free to PM.

i used to commute on an oppy is a nice bit of kit esp when you consider that if it had an italian name on it it would be twice the price. they probably come out of the same factory in taiwan anyway!

i'm a regular racer on the club crit scene (homebush, mt kuringai, eastern creek etc) and usually train up around bobbin head, akuna bay, brooklyn etc

I don't mind a bit of fixie action, I love the whole clean & fresh look. But now that they're trendy I've given up on building one.

I ride rust and character occasionally.

I feel a bit ridiculous riding it because it's a short frame, but I'll never sell it in the hope that I'll have kids one day to teach to to ride.

                        hey thad, whereabouts are you?

theres some good stuff out past midland (called The Goatfarm) - mostly downhill, but some XC

Langley Park at Jarrahdale is fantastic XC with a bit of downhill

Also Ive ridden quite a bit around Bickley area, which is kinda fast downnhil crosscountryish stuff
