Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Of course it happens just before a show and interstate trip...

I was hearing a "ticking" sound coming from the drivers side of the car which I thought I should have checked out so I headed down to Camden GTI... seems there was THREE nails in the tyre.

No problems, the tyre guy in the complex had that sorted out right quick...

Then as the guy reverses the VR6 out it sounds a little funny...

Seems the coil pack has just shat itself too

A few more dollars down and a new one should be in by this afternoon.

Convenient timing? Better today than half way to Melbourne on Saturday I suppose.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

      Ahh the dreaded coil pack's.

As you said though, at least it happened now and not half way to melbourne.

After all that, the new coil pack is in and it's running wonderfully... but the ticking was still there... on closer inspection it seems there was a large rock caught in one of the tyres

Still, it's good to have everything working right before the trip
