watching that video makes me weep. I absolutely love it, however....
I used to watch Rally Australia every year here in Perth, get up at 5am and drive 200kms to watch the world's best drive superby through the bush.
unfortunately year after year, the safety nannies, dressed in their cardigans, would make spectating soooo safe, that there was no point in attending and it was better to stay home and watch it on tv. they basically ruined it!!
Perth eventually lost Rally Australia, and part of me was disappointed, but a big part of me felt we'd actually not really lost anything at all.
Rally is definitely a better TV sport then being there in the flesh. Sure the safety nannies ruined it for the spectators but many drivers have commented that they loved rally aust precisely because of the safety aspect, they didnt have to worry about binning it and mowing down a row of spectators.

It is a shame, but rally is just another business which has risk evaluation, profit margins and everything else. Its no surprise it ended up like this ...
On another note, who seriously would not love to watch a Super Special event in an arena? I know I would...
