Bought an iPad.

Its pretty good. Descent resolution and the keyboard works fine on screen. It's great for viewing mail and doing your iPhone duties on a bigger screen. But man, it's useless when viewing half the websites I go to.

Why release it as the ultimate web device, when for instance I can't view any highlights or videos of my favorite sports website, NBA.COM??

Crap. Anyway around this? Or have I just bought an iBrick?

Quick query:
Did you do much research into the iPad before you bought one?
Most of the people i know who have one just got it becauee they have an iProduct and flocked like sheeple to the new apple item which is essentially a larger, less functional iPhone.


I believe it won't run flash animations which 50% or more of the internet actually runs so that may be your problem.
I had heard apple were looking into this though as they are now taking apps that run flash animations and converting them in house.

Might be best to check out the whirlpool forums for info on the iPad.

Hmmm, maybe iBrick! I'd personally wait for the new gen tablet PC's powered by Android, though by then my R should be delivered so I'll be playing with that instead If you get tired of it you could try this...

Apple has got the global market by the balls so to speak, they release somthing and millions flock to buy it.

I played around with my mate's iPad the other day for a few hours. I thought it was pretty good just to sit there and browse forums and play the odd youtube video. I am considering buying one for that exact purpose later in the year.

if nbc.com run their video through flash player or flash based players you're **** out of luck. no flash on iOS.

Not likely, that's not the apple way.
Apple like to release a product and let the people flock like seagulls to the new cool device. But it lacks the basic stuff, that comes in the next version.
Remember copy and paste on the 1st iPhone ?
Take a photo and send it via MMS ? not until iPhone 2.
2nd camera to do video calls - not until iPhone 4. Motorola/Sony/Nokia had all this down pat about 10 years ago.

You need to buy another piece of hardware to get the basic features = A great marketing strategy.

That said, Jobs has ruled out Flash compatibility because Apple regard it as a resource / power hog. Until they kiss and make up with Adobe, it ain't going to happen.

Any site worth the disk space is moving away from flash video and towards HTML5.
youtube has, vimeo has, etc etc - it will take a while for others to catch up.

My mate has one and his missus has one too. The best part about it from my point of view is the newspaper/magazine reader and subscription manager. imo the ipad is worth it JUST FOR THAT! Will I buy one? No... Why? Because there will be much better android based tablets released that do the couple of things the iPad does well, only better. And they'll also do everything the iPad doesn't do or does poorly.

Bide your time a bit longer. The Android based tablets are coming.

NOOOO!! But yeah I got Angry Birds HD which is pretty cool. The best thig about it is the battery. I dont charge it for like 4-5 days and If you dont thrash it really lasts. i reckon about 10 hours of video and Surfing.

But no flash is killing me! Why Apple? Just suck it up and help out your customers.

My sisters HTC Desire "phone" even allows these flash sites, with ease.

PS the blend it video was gold - I ended up watching like 5 of them HAHAHA

TBH I think apple wants you to believe that.. but I dont think so. Nearly half the WWW uses flash. Company called Adobe does a lot of work with flash and I dont think they are going out of business right now or anytime soon.

From what I have recently read, Apple just doesnt like Adobe.. CPU hog? Um.. my sisters HTC lasts longer than my iPhone.. and she has living wallpapers, constant connection to all social sites, and.. FLASH!

As a repeat customer of Apples' I can accept that they are business, but dont believe all they spin. Thing is so many people who sing their praises on the net, have shares in Apple so the info - to say the least - distorted!

I got one a few months ago and have no complaints with it at all, does everything that is asked of it.

If i did need to run flash websites on it then a quick jailbreak and install of thrash would have it going in under an hour.
