Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Went and had a look yesterday, i would be more keen on the STi after already owning 2 WRX's.

I'm not keen on the rear of the sedan so would probably opt for the hatch if i got one. Main thing putting me off though is the interior, one of the main reason's i was wanting to move away from Subaru is because i'm after a bit more of a quality feel inside.

Will hold on to my hopes of the Golf arriving sooner rather than later before persuing the Subaru i think.

      Yeah found this,

      YouTube - New 2011 WRX

And to be honest I think its the best looking WRX yet. It will accelerate like a scalded cat. STI is rated on Subies website as 4.9sec 0-100km/h!! Not bad for stock.

BUT. The interior is **** house. Only thing is that for a WRX, to have bluetooth, an awesome SAT NAV system with DVD player, Sunroof and Leather.. for $43990 +ORC is amazing to me. Then factor in the deal a good dealer would give you. Not bad. And it sounds great stock with the quad exhaust.

But the interior is definitely **** house. Reliability though is awesome. MY99, 03, 08, 09 and never had a problem. MY99 rattled to the ****house after a few years but pretty much after the MY05's they were good.

Oh, and they dont have an annoying rattle sound between 2000-3000rpm...

im just weird like that. we're all a little weird in some way.... why else would we be driving VW's? lol
Me too (though not a polo really).

I've got a Mk4 GTI and am buying my dad's black Jetta 2.0T DSG (which I'm currently driving, he wanted me to have it for a month so that I'm happy to make the change) and could hardly be happier.

My 21 yo brother came to Sydders to buy a modded R33 GTR lookalike (it's GTS-T with GTR panels, bumpers etc and an ecu tune) and my dad and I both wouldn't swap for it. Plus I like stealthy cars anyway, not sheep in wolves' clothing.

VWs are lovely, but if you want sheer grunt it's hard to top tuned 4.0T falcons.

A well tuned up Skyline would have its way with pretty much anything that has a VW badge on it. Especially a GTI. PLEASE Sheep in wolves clothing.

Your comparing a Skyline (Which is the sheep?), to a Golf (That is the Wolf), have I got this right??

              Thats straight crazy talk.

Although Ford comment is right. My mate had a XR6 T and had the flash tune, intake and injectors done and that car was off its head. Different power category to GTI/R/WRX's.. but not Skylines, RX-7, Supras and all those old school Jap cars (engine tough and reasonably light).

But then again those old jap cars have had their day now.. I love them but I couldnt buy a second hand 1995 model Skyline with 30,000km's (cough, cough) for the 15-20K dealers want.

Otherwise, Im glad you are enjoying your MK IV GTI, terrific allround little car.

Personally, there is no way I would take a Polo over an XR6 T, any day of the week. I dont think many men would. But thats just my opinion since we are talking taking some cars over others.

i think people tend to talk non-VW's up, as idiotic as that statement sounds.

forum member with stage 1 APR golf .:R 0-100: 4.68sec or something like that, wasnt it?

brutal, undeniably, overwhelmingly devastating tunehouse XR6T 0-100: 4.95sec.

                tunehouse sti: 4.83sec

                MRT evo X: 5.16sec

oh, and as for lap times... APR GTI coming in faster than any sub- $75k japanese cars, i.e. evo X & STI.... let alone the aussie cars who would have annihilated the VW's if it werent for the rain, solely based on power and ignoring their weight/ handling shortcomings, or something, i guess.....

so yeah.... VW=inferior for sure, somehow......

at least this month's Motor mag can demonstrate just how mediocre VW's really are....

I spent about an half an hour gawking over a gun-metal wrx sedan today. Very impressive in the flesh. If I was in the market for a new "performance car" I would have one in a heart beat. I'm really digging the wide body-much improved over the previous cars. However it needs 18inch wheels!
