Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Surely that'd be within the warranty period?

I'm a fan of the Optima range, but they're expensive. That said, an Optima Red Top would be good if your car will be sitting still for a long period of time...

Otherwise, Century seem to have a good reputation.
    Nothing to see here...

The warranty for Supercharge Gold is 3 years. Your old boss may not want to replace it but any outlet that sells it will regardless of where it was purchased.

The Supercharge Gold MF66 has a 670CCA with RRP of $219, the Century DIN65LMF only has 580 CCA and 2 year warranty but RRP is only $179.

you shouldn't need a receipt. When you fitted the battery, you should have marked the purchase record on the battery. That should be good enough for any bonafide dealer. If it's a 3 year warranty then it's probably 6 months FOC replacement then pro-rata after that. I'd recomend you contact Supercharge direct & ask them what your options are.

as if the battery is actually dead? It's not that old, it should be OK, unless it's been damaged.

Both my cars have crappy (brand) and old (ones dated '06) and they both work still.

Even my battery in the diesel went flat (completely!) a couple times, but it was still good!

Optima D34 Yellow top. $300. Call me baby.

Other than that it doesnt realy matter too much. If you think you are going to have a problem with constantly discharging the battery then get a deep cycle. If you want it to last a long time without the car running then get one that has lots of Ah (amp hours) CCA only has to do with starting the car realy. Look for around 40-50ah. Keep in mind the more Ah the battery has the bigger it will be.

The D34 is rated at 55ah and 750cca. It also has a LIFE TIME REPLACEMENT WARRENTY. $300 is really cheap and really worth it.
