Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Revs are far more important for performance driving than speed. If it was the opposite, F1 cars would have speedos!

      Agree.
Plus the Left hand screen had the speed displayed on the bottom which he negated to tell anyone but was visible in the video.

Just a shame we have to wait another 6 months for 6 hours worth of tv.

Shows how much respect they have for the Mk 1 Golf GTI by not knackering it.

I'm pretty sure Clarkson owns a mk1 gti and loves them from all accounts, so I couldn't see that harm coming to the mk1. I was squirming in my seat though hoping it wouldn't!

The 'Rose Arch' Mk 1 GTi is the same car they had in the studio before the MkV GTi road test a few years back.

Hmmm, may be Clarksons GTi. (Is it GTI, GTi, gti )

(No I am not a Top Gear nerd that knows every episode, just looked on YouTube)

Good pickup!!! I remember the segment when they had nothing but praise for the MkV GTI. They are known to use their own cars some of the time on the show as comparisons. (like James' Ferrari F430 LOL!!!)
