Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Exactly my thoughts. I mean its still awsome that it can go that fast but its still no real comparison to the bugatti.
I got this off the SCC website, is this what you where refering to?

    December 2008
Shelby SuperCars unveils newly refined 2009 Ultimate Aero. Armed with the more powerful new engine and 15% more horsepower, the '09 Ultimate Aero will be able to reach world-record speeds of 270 MPH.

They say the gearbox ratio is built to do 272mph too but its lighter and more powerfull than the Veyron SS but hasnt been able to do it.

This is all i could find:

Second generation Ultimate Aero to be unveiled on August 8th
      Posted on 07.22.2010
Filed under: SSC | USA | Supercars / Exotic cars | SSC Aero | future cars

Shelby SuperCars have announced they will unveil the second generation Ultimate Aero at the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington on Sunday August 8, 2010 from 5:30 – 10 pm. The evening will begin with a private tour of the museum and will include an intimate dinner event featuring a discussion with SSC owner and founder Jerod Shelby and ex-Pinninfarina designer Jason Castriota (lead designer on historic automobiles such as the Maserati Birdcage, Gran Turismo, and Ferrari 599). Th evening will culminate with the first ever showing of the second generation Ultimate Aero full-scale design model.

This falls right into place with the other announcements made by SSC recently. They have already announced that they will unveil a supercar that will compete with the new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. The current SSC Ultimate Aero is powered by a mid-engined, twin-turbo 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 1183 HP and is capable of hitting a top speed of 256 mph. However, in order to run faster than the current 267 mph record, the next Aero will need to be more powerful and lighter.

As per the TGUK from Sunday night... 267mph from a car with cruise control, airconditioning, cd player, etc. It's a true production road car AS WELL as being the world's fastest road going supercar.

Yeah just had a look and the SSC has all that stuff too.....even though it is a kenwood double din unit

To me its more about the engineering that goes in to it, the SSC to me looks and feels like its just a car built in an advanced shed.
I appriciate the fact that the veyron weighs more and has less power but is still faster, as well as everything on the damn thing being the very best hand made stuff from around the world and it being able to be driven every day without dramas.

              that Veyron SS was awesome..

but i think it was a pretty close contender to the doco that Clarkson did on Senna!

                    Already half way through.

Ferrari 458 Itallia is a beast, i couldn't get over the steering wheel.
Drives exactly how Clarkson dove it when you put it at full pace in forza 3.

The brittish sportcar segment is really interesting.
Very reflective and also reflects on the whole manufacturing industry imho.

                    Jeff Goldblum is awesome.

                      Senna feature was the best.

Only until after their summer break. Technically, it should be called one season with a summer break like it used to be.

why does the 458 have the rev counter in the centre, and speedo/satnav off to one side? surely u would think your speed is more important than trying to hit 9000 revs. but they are italians after all

the one thing i HATE about top gear is that they have about 16 episodes each year,
thats means we all have to wait 36 weeks of the year for a new episode......WHY!!!!

I rekon the ferrari bit sucked, seemed like it was rushed, restricted and payed for. Even his analogies where bad. The car itself looks amazing but it is kindo dumb to have the steering wheel and speedo the way it is.
The rest of the epp was good but not great.
