WHAT THE CRAP WAS THAT! Italy played like ****ing children in a sand box. Kicking the ball to empty space? Lack of strategy as well as poor communication cost them any advancements and all I can say is that they deserved to lose. The World Cup is the real deal and you can't go in there expecting to win because you're the previous champions.

Slovakia truly surprised me tonight. They had good ball handling, good strategy therefore resulting in their win. If they keep playing like that, they've got a good chance at the Cup.

I have to agree with you maca, despite my Italian friends thinking Italy were somehow robbed by the referee due to poor offside calls. Italy needed to play as they did in the last 10 minutes for at least the whole 2nd half to ensure they won. Having said that, an extra 5 or 10 minutes and Italy would have almost certainly scored another goal.

What I found quite odd was the possibility that if Slovakia-Italy ended 1-1, as well as the Paraguay-New Zealand game ending 1-1, Italy & New Zealand would have been equal on points, number or wins/draws, goals for & against, even on the head to head result...which according to FIFA rules the only way of deciding who progresses to the next round is via a coin toss. Surely this rule needs to be changed/looked at more closely to avoid any such future scenarios, when we came reasonably close to it tonight.

I'll admit Italy was robbed from their first potential goal but you're right. They needed to play with turbo (as opposed to Vittek yo) but instead, they walked in with a big head and not a care in the world. To date we're still the world champions, but they certainly didn't deserve to win this game with the attiude they had.

I'm not sure if you're aware of the Dolce Vitq at Milton up here, but is basically Italia central especially around this time of the year. I had some stupid Aussie mates that kept screaming it out, I swear they were gonna get rolled

Can't beleive Tim Cahill didnt get a red card for that hand ball in this mornings match. IMO Serbia should have won that much however they didnt take enough risks.

I was in the city from 12 to 7am just to watch the game, and yet Serbia looses, ahaha what a waste of time.

No reason for a handball call on that let alone a red card, the ball bounced onto the back of his hand from behind him. No way it was intentional or avoidable.

If we played as well against Germany we would have been through but nothing we can do about that now. Hopefully we get a great group of young players through now the A league seems to be going well.

Yeah but if you go to Serbia, or any other country, you are called an Australian. I was born and grew up overseas but am still recognised as an Australian by everyone over there, im not going to pretend that im not Australian because if I do then i dont have a home. They are not going to accept a tourist overthere. Its even worse with people who where born and grew up here but are still convinced they are a different nationality.

Not trying to offend anyone but its just my opinion and i find it anoying they these types of people wont recognise that their home country is Australia.

It was a goal and it could have changed the course of the Eng v Germany match. Cameras now for controversial goal decisions, penalties, red cards and free kicks within 25 metres all at the Refs discretion.

low talented
poor world class team
over enthusiastic crappy german engineered ball
crap uniforms
and stupid crap acting dives
high red and yellow card rate
poor referee decisions
and not enough REAL MEN playing!

bring back the golden years of watching 1984 world cup!

I agree with everyting 100%. Except for one thing (which means I agree with 90% of it all); there was no world cup in 1982...

was it slovakia-italy, where that **** from italy stood over the goalie of the other team to jeer him, then the goalie [because he was being crowded] tapped the italian guy on the forehead, and the italian guy when to the ground and acted as if he had been knocked out, finally coming to, then blinking his eyes as if he's having trouble seeing?

and like, more often than not, if you accidentally stand on one of their toes, they'll go down to the ground in agonizing pain? and sometimes, they get so panicked that you're chasing them, that they'll take a dive when you're chasing them from like, 2-3 meters behind?

and then, rather than gracefully wait for his disheartened, defeated troops at the end of a match in which presumably, they've done their best, the italian coach just abandons them like an unwanted baby in a hospital lobby, stomping into the locker rooms in disgusting un-professionalism, before his troops have even had a chance to shake hands with the players from the other team?

disgusting. cowardly. lacking any class. behaving like little b*tches, just to draw a penalty. lacking any integrity, as men. from the youngest player, right up to the coach.

the roman empire was a magnificent thing, sure. but the italian world cup campaign- it's disgusting. it makes people smugglers look like stand up citizens....
