go get a beer on acland street in summer and come back to me on how good those sydney sider girls are ( 15min in that situation will turn a gay man straight and you girlfriend into a lesbian)
I'm too old and married to think about how good any girls are (wheather they be from Sydney or Melbourne), all too much effort
or though I'd go a beer anywhere and talk **** with me mates.

Come August, you can't beat Falls Creek for atmosphere in the snow.
Mk IV Golf GTI - BMP - GIAC chip, R32 wheels, KW coilovers, rear swaybar.

You don't need to be a local in melbourne to find a good time and everyone is pretty open and friendly when you are out and about.

so if you really think melbourne is "miserable, no sun, no beaches, and it's so boring" then you're doing it wrong.

I'm all for local pride and I get that nothing ever compares to home, but **** dude if you can't have fun in Melbourne there is seriously something wrong.
maybe there is something wrong with me? who knows. But i don't enjoy melbourne, and i do find it boring. It is only my views. From my place i walk 5 minutes down to the beach right infront of the harbour, i don't see anything beating that, not in melbourne anyway.

I'm sure there are nice people there, and occasional sunshine, and i've been to acland street, it is nice, but it still doesn't beat home.

Maybe because i only visit Melbourne for work, and don't live there hence different experiences, but from mine? it has nothing on sydney.

As for the roads? right... turn right from the left lane, enough said.

haha okay you got me on hook turns(though I don't understand why they confuse people)
but I would call your roads...well train tracks you know you're are in sydney when the rhythmic thud of cracked unmaintained roads kicks in...that is if you not stuck in traffic.
I get you not wanting to live in melbourne and homes is always best but being bored in melbourne is blasphemy... I didn't even think it was possible to tell you the truth, I've never had anyone visit and not have them had a good time, there is always something in melbourne that caters to a person enjoyment.

Then again most my mates are the boozing muso types so they are happy with live music and drinks till 10am in the morning.

Living in StKilda next to the Espy, and with the Spa Baths and Beach 2minutes away thats on par with the 5minutes to the harbour beach.... won't say it tops it cos I know I can't change your mind on that but there are equivalents down here.

true..... but it doesn't stop me wanting to shake you silly. Next time you are in town come hang out with the crew down here if you are still bored then god save your soul

Oh and I meant no offence with all the **** I said, I've enjoyed my self every time, I've been in Sydney but yeah nothing compares to home, I love Melbourne and all it's perks (which I thought were universal....but you had to go ruin that theory). it's just the being bored in melbourne thing that gets me.... it's like not having fun in Disney land.... or hating sex

international comedy festival, formula one, soccer, afl, AND rugby, australian open tennis, tropfest short film festival, much better pub/ bar scene and live music scene than anywhere else in australia [dont bother rebutting that], 2.5hrs drive from the snow, no beaches= bells beach, amongst others, master golf, etc etc....

              the list goes on.

sorry, but melbourne absolutely d7cks on sydney for entertainment value.

p.s. im sydney born and raised, so yes, i DO get going to a club on the upper north shore/ eastern suburbs, hanging out with aspiring designers and musicians with minor record deals who hope to one day be as famous as selwyn was, sipping champagne all dressed up, feeling very important and busy, and convincing yourself that you're having the time of your life.... i DO get that, because it's what lures sydney siders, been there done that.

and im not understanding the melbourne-is-cloudier-than-london thing? only occasional sunshine? lol..... okay. the black saturday bushfires were caused by intense cloud ......

not having a dig, just a bit of a giggle. never any hard feelings

It is hardly universal when most people travelling from overseas always go to sydney first. Melbourne = sex with an average woman Sydney = sex with a super model.

PS. One thing i dislike about melbournians are they are artsy fartsy.

I will give you the formula one and Australian open. I go to melbourne every year to watch those 2 events. As for the rest, Sydney gets all the big socceroos games and union games. And best of all, no one gives a toss about afl <<< that alone keeps me in sydney forever. You also forgot the melbourne cup.

A few sporting events doesn't change everything, as mentioned already, i don't like melbourne because it is artsy fartsy, people are too uptight, they literally think they are better than the rest, when infact they are not.

Sydney is a much more relaxed city, friendlier i must say, for me who works in finance, it is where all the big organisations are as well. Sydney is where every thing is in Australia. Center of Australia.

Even England has beaches, doesn't mean they are any good.

PLEASE, can we get back to the dream cars?!

NICE!!! The Megafactories doco on those was quite interesting. Especially the part where ONE painter paints an ENTIRE car solo because the different movements from person to person would cause the finish to be inconsistent.
