Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Have to laugh at comments suggesting $20m not enough!
If I had $20million, my garage would consist of:
1. McLaren F1 - the ultimate supercar and should be a sound investment! ($3m?)
2. Lamborghini LP640 spyder (I'd get a depreciated 2nd hand one), or maybe Ferrari 458 Italia spyder (when it is out) would be on order ($500K)
3. Daily drivers - replacing my Passat CC would be a Bentley Continental ("comfort mode") ($500K) and Porsche 911 Turbo 997 ("Sports mode") ($350K). Oh I would keep the CC too!
4. Family Car/Adventures - Range Rover Vogue with all the fruit. ($250K)
5. Track car - Porsche GT3 997 ($250K)
I would "still" have over $15million left to invest lol !sigpicMY10 Passat CC V6 - RNS510, GPS, RVC, self park, dynaudio, cooling seats!

hmm i think about this all the time!! lol
If i won 20m... i would spend 10m on a house... and probably 3m on cars... and invest the rest.
So... it would be nice to get a bugatti veyron... but too expensive.
So my car collection would be...
Ferrari Scuderia (675k)
Aston Martin DBS (500k)
Mercedes Benz S600 (400k)
Audi R8 (360k)
Porsche 911 Carrera 4s (300k)
Porsche Cayenne Turbo or Range Rover (250k)
BMW M3 (170k)
Nissan GT-R (160k)
Last but not least, a Golfbut spend 100k on top in modifications lol
SO that is 3m. A few luxury ones (merc and cayenne)... but not over the top like RR or Maybach. A few over the top supercar, in DBS, Scuderia and R8... the nissan would be my car to trash the crap out of!! and a few day to day drives 911, m3 and golf (when i don't want to be a ****head).

that's easy. he's obviously thinking of a proper man-house.
its GOT to have a moat. a big one.
it's funny, though, the way people think about houses... my parents just bought a place in albert park [its called loreat or something] and apparently it costs $1.6mill for their three storey townhouse.....
hmmm. $1.6 million for a townhouse in a prime location right in melbourne city... i know a fair few people who would think that's pretty sweet.
orrrrrrrrr you could spend HALF that, and buy 2x lots of land on which to build decently sized log cabins, 5 minutes walk from the ski lifts in Rusutsu, Hokkaido, Japan, the ski resort that's been voted best resort in Hokkaido [the powder capital of the world].
when i think of it like that, a ''prestigious'' $1.6m townhouse right in albert park, it sounds like ****ing crap.
my ideal house wouldnt cost much... but the views would be worth much much more than ANY view you could get in some ritzy inner-city snooty house.Last edited by Buller_Scott; 07-06-2010, 07:43 AM.

10m might sound excessive, which it is... but it is an investment afterall, the value of a house would hardly drop, not compared to cars anyway... if i bought 3m worth of cars after a year or 2... it would be worth like 2m lol but a 10m house would stay 10m.
Plus i have to find a place that would fit my 8 cars hahahahaha
Here is a preview... a friend of mine is in real estate... and this place is 11m... Property Details
and this place is 30m lol Property Details
this is 7.8m 61/155 Macquarie Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 - Apartment for Sale #106581562 - realestate.com.au
BUT hey we are only dreaming anyway.

Jesus! I had no idea people actually wanted to pay that much to live in the most over populated patch of Australia. Granted they're all magificent places but living in Sydney? NO WAY! Certainly now if I don't have to work ever again...

You are from Victoria, so Sydney is obviously evil, just like i think Melbourne is evilthe place is miserable, no sun, no beaches, it is so boring, last of all it is a state of afl *vomits*
You can call sydney over populated... i prefer vibrant lol
But we grew up differently, so we like different things.

Just to clarify - I was born and raised in Sydney actually. Lived in Canberra since I was 16 (apart from when I was an ATC Officer in the RAAF) and at the moment working in Melbourne. I LOVE Melbourne. Way better than Sydney with more to do. So Sydney has the Harbour, that's it really.LoL

With the loto win, I'd keep my house and rent it out.
Buy a bigger house in the shire, also buy a place in FNQ, Buy a house OS and live in all 3 at different times of the year.
I could never leave Sydney for good.. and I never go to the harbour, except when crossing it to see various clients and friends.Mk IV Golf GTI - BMP - GIAC chip, R32 wheels, KW coilovers, rear swaybar.

what Melbourne did you visit? the whole bay has beaches if you want proper surf beaches, torquay and bells (better than anything in nsw) are an hour away, we get proper dry heat none of this bull**** humidity, our bars, clubs and entertainment areas are open till all hours, great art scene, bigger (better) music scene, better roads, less traffic, you can actually drive through our city. You don't need to be a local in melbourne to find a good time and everyone is pretty open and friendly when you are out and about.
so if you really think melbourne is "miserable, no sun, no beaches, and it's so boring" then you're doing it wrong.
go get a beer on acland street in summer and come back to me on how good those sydney sider girls are ( 15min in that situation will turn a gay man straight and your girlfriend into a lesbian)
I'm all for local pride and I get that nothing ever compares to home, but **** dude if you can't have fun in Melbourne there is seriously something wrong.Last edited by Whubbsie; 07-06-2010, 01:40 PM.Originally posted by Preen59It doesn't matter what car you drive..
