Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • My "other" project.

Some of you have probably laughed at my whinging about injuries sustained whilst landscaping/gardening. But it's all been worthwhile!

    Before:

    After:

The carport was done separately, and we still have to re-seal the driveway in a coloured sealant to bring it back to all being the same colour (that'll be the last thing we do, once we finish dragging stuff up and down the driveway).

I realise the angle's not quite the same, and the tree in the front of shot hides the front of the house a little, but the difference to the look of the place is amazing, I'm sure you'll agree!

Go an inch lower and she'll be sweet mate.

Looks tops. I bet it's taken a lot of hard work. Property always does.

We did probably 90% of it ourselves. We had an excavator dig out the trenches for the retaining wall foundations because digging it by hand in clay soil was insanity (mind you, he did rip up our phone line and almost killed himself by ripping up our gas pipe - neither of which were where they were meant to be according to dial-before-you-dig information, so not the excavator's fault!) and we got a dingo in to move 10 tonne of soil up behind the wall to backfill the yard once the walls were built. The rest (the wall itself probably weighs 20 tonnes, and we moved it twice, long story), another 8 tonnes of garden soil, all the plants, the grass, etc, yep, we did it all ourselves.

A lot of hard work is exactly right. I've lost 10kgs in the last year, all through landscaping and gardening!

The idea with the plants is that there will be a photinia hedge along the front of the front balcony and down each side of the property, and a hedge of murraya along the tops of the front walls. The plants were only planted two days ago, so a bit of time yet before the hedges become apparent.

ah yeah. LOVE the hedge look.

blood sweat and tears, eh? i've seen my folks go through it, which is why im only too happy to rent apartments (im damn lazy). hat's off to you for the gumption, for sure.

as for losing ten kg's, well done! although, to put yourself through all of that so that you could lose weight, it might have been more cost effective to get Wii Fit

                    Looks amazing manaz,

We brought a house last September and are going through the same thing. Only problem is that we set ourselves a goal to have the whole house and exterior renovated within 2 years to sell again, aaaaaaahhhhhhh!

All I can say is we have made a great start but we have alot of work ahead of us, this is why I can't go all out on the cars yet, well just untill we sell here and buy the next.

Great work but mate, tranformation looks amazing.

It's all worth it in the end when you stand back and see what you've acheived.

No, should have clarified - we got someone in with a dingo to do that. He was SO bloody good on it, what he did in 4 hours I reckon I would never have achieved in two days!

WOW! I've never met anyone who's made an Astra look like a Liberty.
