I left Niseko on the 3rd feb, and it was better this year than the last time I went.

People say that the Aussies are rude, but I think it's an over-reaction! My brother, his mate and I were getting retarded in bars and restaurants and the Japanese staff really didn't care about our antics because by the end of the trip they knew us and invited us to parties and when we'd go into restaurants our drinks would be at the table almost before we could sit down.

In saying that, we got soooooo many dirty looks from other Caucasian people and particularly when we started smoking at tables, but when in Rome...

So, yes we're the bogans you're talking about! But, it's mad fun!

Best runs in the morning after 30+cm are in Strawberry fields, Hanazono, but you have to be there right at the crack. First down the guts, then traverse right, then traverse left, but don't get stuck in the creek. Other runs are; through the left gate from the top of the 2nd hanazono lift, the short walk up the hill on the right from the top of the gondola, and a lot of rope ducking when you're on your last day of your lift pass (don't listen to the ski patrol whistles, just keep going).

My best run of the trip was in Strawberry fields, early morning, booting off a mushroom and getting about 25ft air, then fresh carves through waist deep untracked snow in a tree free bowl, then through the trees that take you out beside the groomer on the right, and smashing out some carves and booting off two other natural features. I was hooting and hollering all the way down! Yeeeewwww!!!!

I was riding a 152 Skate Banana, with Ride SPI's, and it was just a great length. A lot of people ride massive boards over there, I saw like 170+ cm boards and stuff! Too long for tree bashing!

    Fresh turns!

Trying to get some coloradoing in! But, I pussied out going any higher...

After I jumped out of the tree, and yes, I am standing!

      hey man nice pics!

no, you arent the 'boguns' that im talking about. im talking about people who simply lack any form of self control- guys who arent shy about loudly cracking jokes re: chicks slurping on poles and taking it up the duff, on the pension circuit bus (kids on board and all).

how is the skate banana? does the 152 still float up in pow? i ride flow nxt's on a neversummer evo r 161, which is good for my weight as im heavy, but im thinking of downsizing to a 155 or 153 for dedicated park work next season / new zealand. do you spend much time in the park?

The skate banana is great! It's not too soft and not stiff.
I was riding a 149 GNU street banana in 2008, and that was too soft.
The 152 floats nicely in powder, provided the stance is right. But it's great for all round fun, from groomers to park and pow. I spend most of my time at Hotham, and there's just soooo many places to hike in and out of and ride fresh lines day after day almost.

But, I'll be doing a fair chunk of racing this season coming, so it's going to be too slow, so I might buy another racey-style board.

I don't spend too much time in the park, that happens only when we have a big group of us around...
