I wish I had the problem of driving less than 15,000 in any 12 month period.

What oil was that? For your TDI? (just asking)

In Adelaide, the cheapest oil in 5L available from Repco and Supercheap cost $84, last month. Shell Helix Ultra Extra
      Performance Tunes from $850

The more I read into this, the more confusing it gets, according to Skodas Variable Service interval, QG1, oil changes are at 30,000 km unless a lower grade oil is used then it is 15,000 km. I think I ll stick to the 15,000 km. The service department are claiming QG1 services do not apply to Australia but no where in the Owners manual, Service Schedule or Australian supplement does it state this.

I suspect that the Service Departments argument would revolve around higher summer operating temperatures. Somebody should try to get a definitive answer from Skoda Australia.

In writing would be really good if you can con them into some sort of email response.

I recall a long time ago Skoda saying they would only support the fixed and not the variable servicing due to Aussie conditions, how did you come to have a variable servicing set up, as surely the dealer did it?

I have no idea, but even my MFD Data is set up for Variable Servicing, maybe it was a pre-delivery oversight.

AFAIK, the only 504/507 that Supercheap sells is the Shell Helix Ultra Extra. The last time I was there it was $75 but the $ has improved since then so $70 sounds plausible. If you get there on a 20% off day it's an even bigger bargain.

AUS doesn't do variable. Mine was set up for variable when I got it - PD oversite (wakelings as well). It's 15,000km/12 months. Actually, somewhere in the back of my mind there's 15,000/24months (ie: When I was on 14800km the display said "Service due 200km or 450days").

Unfortunately, your car is due for service Antiplastix.

My car is due for the 60,000km next week. I'm still not sure where to go to get the service done.
I don't want to go back to Wakelings again because (a) they no longer have access to any Skoda TSBs or software updates; (b) they want to charge what appears to be an excessive amount of money (original quote $950 which eventually came down to $750 when i questioned how they arrived at the price).

                      So my alternatives are:
                      • Trivett Blacktown which is 50km away & I'd have to get a loan car or hang around.
                      • Nepean Motor Group which is near our Head Office, so I could go to work but I've never heard a good word about Nepean MG.
                      • Moss Vale Skoda - long term Volvo & Pugeot dealers so they understand Euro cars. Country dealership (more likely to get a long term employed mechanic) which is 100km down the road & 20km from one of our branches. Was thinking of dropping the car in & going for a bike ride. First quote for the service was $650 without having to haggle.
                      • Camden GTI - just around the corner from work. I don't know how to read that mob, have heard some good reports & bad reports. Convenience might win though.
                      • Southern Classic at Wollongong - nothing but bad reports.

There you go! Buy on the day they have a 20% sale, stock up and you have a cheap oil supply for your car. I buy in balk almost everything that I use on regular basis. The synthetic oil should last 2 or more years, if stored properly.

Sorry, haven't been logged in for a little while. The pricing was pretty line ball with all the major brands that stock VW507 grade full synthetic. It was Shell that had the best price from memory. I don't recall it being a sale price either, although when are Supercheap NOT having a 20% sale???!

5 good reports to every bad one is pretty good going i think. Most businesses have the opposite ratio.

Where are you moving to this time?

We are moving right in front of our current location to a big new purpose built complex.
It has street frontage, more service bays and still retains the parts facilities that we have always had.
Come down and check it out.
