Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

just had a chat with one of the guys from open road, they deal Bagyards, he says

1895.94 with shipping to the US. going to be an additional fee to get it posted to you but shouldn't be too much more. if you add the 699.95 for the magement system + 1895.49 front and rear bags = 2595.89....i figure with all the postage you're looking at around 2700-2750 out the door shipped but don't quote me on that.

this is the bomber series, here are the pics

while mason-tech has these prices excluding shipping

    Front Air Struts (mk23cpairstruts ) $999.99

    MASON-Tech
    Analog
    Air Management
    System (airmgmntlevel1) $999.99

    Rear Air Struts (mk23cprearstruts ) $479.99

    Subtotal:
    $2,479.97

I yep cool, I have been speaking to the guys at mason-tech but have also seen the bagyards system and they seem the same but the US guys are raving on about the bagyards systems.

I have asked for quotes from mason-tech for there kit as they offered me extra amount of warranty. Well let you guys know when they get back to me but all accounts it looks good.

well see, the masons and bagyards are diffrent, same looking, yes, but diffrent setups, heres some info

        stolen from vortex:

From what i have been reading they both have a great rep and make some great products. They do how ever have a bit different of a design.
The Masion-tech is pretty much a Bag over coil, where it utilizes the areo sport bags.
The Bag yards, have a bag that seals to the shock.

        another reply

the bagyard design needs much less pressure to run at the same height, so less pressure= better ride.

so they are diffrent, but similar price

From what I've read I think the mason tech's go lower straight out of the box compared to the others.

Have you seen the Bagyard factory tour? Really impressive, I'll see if I can dig it up

edit: here it is http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4480915 Warning: lots of images!

I read the opposite Bagyards are lower out of the box,

if you want something else I was going to go with these guys

            Air Bag It

they have all in one kits, all the management, compressors and switches are pre-fabed into one box and tested to work, only have to plumb your lines to your bags and run some power to the system.

lots of info on there to help you decided on what to get too.

My plans was to get bagyards with full digital management and switches for the Golf & Polo by DOVW then having them laying frame by SEDF... total pipe dream now though.

yeah read about those blokes at airbagit.com, everyone says its the "walmart or the airride kits" hence, poor quality, i dont know of any good feedback from them, atleast mason-tech and bagyards are VAG specific

Hadn't research much on these guys, but the parts they sell and use are the same as what you can get here in the Aus stores just pre-fabed and cheaper will without the shipping anyways.

For the main components I'd go bagyard and accurair thats pretty much as top quality as it gets

Remember you will have to pay import duties or whatever when you get this in because it's over $1000, might want to take that into cost considerations if you haven't already.

Will be a cool project Dom, just keep focused and finish it!

yeah i havnt added the import tax, i might try and see if he could send it through as a "gift" hence no import taxes, i think theres about more to it, but it could possibly be overridden...........

as for it being a project, most of the blokes who buy these kits, bang em out over a weekend, its pretty much swapping coilovers over and hooking them up to some valves, compressor and a tank.......

Just tell them to write the value as $800 on the paperwork and send the invoice separately. That's what i've heard people do with Dragster parts and Weber kits for 16v's... But i have to actual experience with that..

ok, just an update on what im doing

ive decided to go with the bagyard kit, it pretty much all cae down to shipping prices, and open road tuning seemed to give a better deal.....

once some cash flow comes through, the bags will be ordered... BEST!

they are a contitech bag (continental) and run on a custom airride dampered bilstein shock! they take a month to send over but itll be worth the wait!

                            some specs
