  • got experience with Air Ride?

hey guys, i know this might be a looong shot, but just wondering if anyone has dealt with air ride suspension?

what would be the best option for installing air shocks on a mk3 golf setup

ive been reading up on custom bag sleeves over bilstein shocks

    or

a direct bolt on kit i.e air shocks

    any help would be great,

    thanks
    dom

Not directly related to the application in a VW, but I know a guy who has air bags insead of shocks in his HSV (rears only) and he swears by them!

I don't know the details but I know he can easily adjust the stiffness for different applications. Cruisinng, track or towing his boat.

The best way I can think of to approach something like this is let people know what your goals are and then work out which solution would be best for what you want.

    Cheers

ok, lets just pluck a random car out of no where..... say i was to air ride a B3 passat wagon, going to be my daily driver, dont want it too fancy, just to go up and down, front and back...... what would be my best option, custom make a set using custom sleeves or just buy a kit pre fabbed up.....

Do you mean like air bags with the compressor and switches for raising and lowering etc? Or do you mean a more standard type of shock replacement with adjustable rebound resistance?

I would say pre-fabbed for either would be easier and a cheaper than having some made custom.

What you are looking for is probably a pre-fabbed kit, the hard thing is getting one in Australia, I am in the process of working out what the VR will need and stuff. I'm considering it very highly but the mk3 isn't hard to get low like a mk4 or mk5!

already been there, not paying over 8k for a airride setup dude

and to dubsteve, i can get full quality kit sent over for about 3.2k, thats using bilstein shocks with airbag sleeves, and an accuair managment system

There's a place just around the corner from me.

I know a bit about the compressor and tank side of things from my playing about with big air horns.
