Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Have you ever heard the saying "Those who don't learn from their mistakes are condemned to forever repeat them" ? Or then again she might come on a forum like this and blather on about how it is the manufacturers or dealers fault that she needed to add water, and that cars shouldn't need ANY maintenance or checking between the dealer's services
      Hahaha I'll never forget....

A couple of years ago this guy comes into Dad's workshop one afternoon.. I was there (unusually) working on the Mk1.. His car comes in on a tow truck. He said "It won't start and it's leaking oil..." Dad says "Ok.. Tell me what happened leading up to this.." This guy says "Well, i was at the service station filling up with fuel. I checked the oil while i was at it. I took the cap off and i couldn't see any oil in the top, so i put 4 litres in it.." Dad "Ok mate.. Leave it with me."
