Anyone who is even remotely interested in cars already knows how fast the Veyron is.

Funnily enough, despite the straight line speed advantage the Bugatti has, the GTR is 12 secs quicker around the Nurburgring.

Comparing a stripped down, heavily modified golf to a stock veyron is a stupid comparison.
Of course it will do a quicker 0-60/quarter mile, it weighs the same as a feather.
It's like comparing the new arial atom with a V8 to a Veyron.

The only thing the Veyron is good for is straight line acceleration due to the number of cylinders and turbo's it has allowing it to accelerate past everyone even at higher speeds.
It doesn't corner as well as other cars and lighter, low end acceleration cars are generally quicker i.e. Lotus elise GT3 etc.

I can see every point in doing this comparison; We all knew the Bugatti would win but by how much? There's been so much hype over the speed and awesomeness of the new GTR that the Veyron has fallen into the background. This shows just how freaky fast the veyron actually is!

and as for that golf, you guys are saying like it's no great feat to have a mk1 accelerate quicker than a Vayron?! umm, go build it then oh and its got a quarter of the cylinders and turbos . . . all your comments are just ridiculous

Bah...Both over rated cars...The F1 did all of this with N/A, no driver aids, no turbos and RWD...Plus it had outright and class wins at Le Mans, JGTC and wins in the GT Championship...Christ, the GTR even beats the Veyron at the Ring, where there are a new invention...Corners...

What a larf, i love listening to people comparing the bugatti to stuff that it was designed to be better than. As if VW would fail in creating a car that's faster and better than anything else. FYI it doesn't have 1000hp its got 900 something and he stuffed up the start hard.

They should race the Veyron in reverse.

I have an Austin Healey sprite Mk1. 948cc of power in standard form. Lucky to do the old ton of 160 kph. But it can steer like no other car, and if I can choose the track, it could put much faster straightline cars to shame. And you can mod the to the hilt - if you can do it to a mini cooper s (a real one, not a bimmer) then you can do it to a sprite - very fun car. More comparison videos i say, and dont care what vs what.

If people keep posting this sort of crap after a completely legitimately interesting video or topic has been uploaded onto VWW, the general section will just be deleted.

Pull your bloody heads in and stop arguing the toss! The video is there, love it or hate it. This forum doesn't need everyone's differing opinion about something that shouldn't even be here. Yes I know it's the general section but it won't be around if we just keep bickering about useless bits of general information. It's just a video.

Ahem...that said, I enjoyed the video because I really had no idea how much of a difference a car like the veyron has over the new GTR. Thanks for posting without your opinion, awestonevp.

I sort of figured the general section was like general chit chat with mates, like at a pub with a few beers and there's always banter. Sorry I don't understand that last post Mickey. It's a public forum, not everyone's the same, people disagree. It's all part of life. I seriously doubt there is anyone taking anything overly seriously.

General section can easily become a waste of time if all people do is banter. The good general section threads are the ''inspirational thread'' and stuff about who does what job, birthdays, who's on facebook, contacts, stuff like that.

Threads like this are just a waste of time on here nowadays. Everyone wants to argue and all it does is waste space on our forum that we could be using for something useful.

It's not about taking things overly seriously either Rocket. Unless it's VW related, it's really not supposed to be here (don't ask about the rules, that's what they are in black and white) and if it isn't VW related it shouldn't have three pages of argument. You guys can meet up and do that at the pub.
